Yes, they are pretty popular here in the Los Angeles area. Especially in the areas with good bike infrastructure. I see more and more daily commuters on e-bikes.

I read this article yesterday and immediately sent it to my wife and sister-in-law. they both also bike commute. separately, I'm attending my first-ever city council meeting tonight as the conversation will focus on bike lane infrastructure. apparently there is some pushback on proposed bike lanes. so I'm going to simply show the powers that be that there IS some support/demand for bike lane infrastructure : - )
