Shocke Electric bikes: Surge & Ampere problems.

1. Batteries no longer available for these discontinued bikes. Alternatives ? A simple design, just a box in the frame, 2 connections and some alignment pins, but no batteries being offered. Are there really so few of these ?

I am in Novato, California

  1. Surge just shuts off after a few minutes of use. Runs no-load at a steady 24.5 KPH, steady red light on sensor. No apparent corrosion, damage or loose connections, some discoloration on computer screen. ( Temporary, went away) Battery shows 44.5 charge.

  1. Today I reprogrammed the computer to read in MPH, made a few other changes, and went for a ride. Got about 4 miles before the display went off and operation quit, with a distinct click from the display. Does the click mean a switch was thrown ? By what mechanism ?
  2. Turned it back on several times, it immediately quit again. Worked with throttle, managed to get an Error 4 (throttle error), no other information from the display.

This battery is about 6 years old, maybe a little more. Light use, always dependable until now. Seems to charge up fine, run OK until it warms up, then stops. Are there diagnostic steps I can take ? I assume if I trace down the cables, I will find a cable port somewhere.
