Known Issues & Problems with Mondraker Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

No ebike is perfect, this is a thread dedicated to sharing known issues or problems with electric bikes from Mondraker as well as any help and solutions you know of. Sometimes that means a DIY fix and other times it can mean a recall, software update or part replacement by a dealer.

Please be respectful and constructive with feedback, this is not a space for hate speech. In many cases, representatives from the company will see feedback and use it to improve their product. In the end, the goal is to enjoy riding and help each other go further and be safer.

I know very old thread, and with no replies either Mondrakers are perfect or not very popular. I hope it's the latter because I just bought one 😁

Just a quick review of my new Crafty R. Only 30 miles on it so far 20 dirt, 10 paved bike path.
Bought it new sight unseen over internet.
Build quality seems top notch, nice welds, stainless fasteners, cable routing nice & tidy, no rattles or noises, wheels true.
The ride is fantastic, on steep climbs & downhills it has great traction up & down it felt very planted. Had one Oh S### moment going way to fast thought for sure I was crashing but the bike plowed through it without any drama ! I was impressed. The Fox suspension probably had a lot do with that. Cornering seems real good, at speed bike is very flickable holds it's line and able to change lines mid corner, feels real balanced and planted very confidence inspiring. Pretty much every on line review complains about the SRAM G2 brakes but so far there great no fade, nice progressive feel to them. I thought I'd be upgrading the brakes but thats on hold for now.
I know 30 miles isn't much but since there is no content on this forum I figured why not post up my thoughts. It's hard to find actual user reviews of the 2022 Crafty R bike.

Thank you for taking the time to review. Can you give an update on how the bike is performing for you since your initial report?

Well, now after about 250+ miles in I'm still loving the bike. My MTB skills were next to nothing prior to buying this bike but have years of MX & off-road armature racing. I'm now a lot more confident and am starting to take advantage of the bikes overall performance. The bulid quality is there, I've crashed it hard and no damage to bike, brakes are fine I do mostly cross country but never have a problem on long descents. The bikes drive train still shifts perfectly and the suspension is fantastic. I did think I'd get more miles out of the 750w battery but on a ride with a lot of long cilmbs I'll get maybe 30 miles. I do wish the battery was easily removable not sure Mondraker built it where you have to drop the motor to remove it. But on the other hand I have absolutely no reason to remove it. Wheels/rims have take a beating no dents & still true. I do maintain it. I have ridden back to back with EMTB that had a Yamaha motor & a Specialized with I believe has a Brose motor and both were smoother than the Bosch but once your going you don't notice it but the Bosch comes hard compared to the others.
I also bought the Mondraker because I liked that it was made in Spain, Spaniards are 2 wheel crazy ! I owned and raced a GasGas dirt bike (made in Spain) that was absolutely fantastic. Over all In the price range I think the Mondraker has the best suspension but your compromising on it's not a brand sold in very many places. The rest bars, seat post, drive train, wheels all seem about the same.
If have any particular questions fire away .

Awesome! Thank you for the update. Sounds like you are really enjoying it. I have a Crafty R in transit and I'm patiently waiting. Seems we have some common backgrounds. I too have a MX/Dirt bike background (but it's been a while!) and like you, I have only been riding eMTBs for a short time, but building skills quickly. I have a Wattwagons Hydra Carbon (frame and wheel) eMTB fat bike that I've been learning on for about 8 months. But it has 4.8" tires and weighs 67+ lbs, so while it's fun, it's not very nimble. I've learned that it's Bafang 620 motor is heavy and the excess power (160nm) is not usable in most MTB situations, thus I'm hoping the 85 nm, 55lb-ish Crafty R is more nimble for MTB trails and technical terrain. And a 30 mile range would be better than my current 20 mile-ish range on climb heavy rides. Thanks for your insights on the different motors as well as the suspension and shifting. I was wondering about that. I'm familiar with the GasGas bikes. They look great and they are on my list to consider if I eventually get one. I used to ride Honda and Suzuki (when they had 2 rear shocks! LOL). Hope you continue to enjoy your Mondraker.
