Kids' bike carrier for RadWagon

Hey folks, 1st time poster here, so forgive any faux pas.

I have a RadWagon, which I use to transport my kid to school. On the way there, he rides on his 20-inch-wheel bike, but on the way home he's pretty tired, so I usually end up carrying his bike on my front basket. Not a great placement, since the basket is metal, the bike is metal, there's scraping, it's unbalanced, too wide for some passageways, etc. etc.

I want to build some kind of bike rack for the back/side, so that I can easily load it up, and it's out of my way (while pedaling) and his way (while sitting on the back). Basically a couple of hooks attached somehow.

I don't have the kid corral (aka Caboose) on the back; if I did this might be easier. I thought I might remove one of the pannier bags and somehow install hooks along that side. Something along the lines of the racks some folks use to carry surfboards, or the Xtracycle Longloader, or just a couple of PVC pipes with padding, or...

Anyone every tried this?
