It's fire season again

So was this fire season 4 months long ? Going by thread date . And what has been the normal length in past years ? Just curious.
Our fire season in Nor Cal usually lasts from the mid-AUG thunder storms until the first rains in mid-OCT. This year's season has been longer and much more intense. For So Cal it's made worse by the cyclic low rainfall they've gotten (0" in DEC) due to the La Nina ocean currents along the coast.

How do you feel about a carbon tax Mr Coffee?
100% for it.

Keep in mind that if you own and operate a coal-fired plant in the United States, Canada, or Europe at this point it makes more business sense to abandon the plant and build a wind farm or solar farm. You'll make more money.

How do you feel about a carbon tax Tim?
I think carbon taxes for industries that have a practical alternative make sense as a part of a multi-pronged approach to climate change. As to fire suppression in California there are other factors also in play. Tree harvesting and even thinning has been effectively eliminated in much of California's forests leading to millions of standing dead trees and feet of wood debris on much of the forest floor. Even if the impacts of climate change were reversed these impacts would remain for decades, if not generations, to come. A non-reveune focused carbon tax will not address this.

California's electric utilities are again announcing power shut offs due to expected high winds and dry conditions. Winds hit 50mph in California's Sacramento River delta today. Wild fires have agian broken out in Southern California. Here in the Sierra foothills we've had to turn our yard sprinklers back on due to the lack of rain. High wind warnings have been posted for our area through TUES night.

Mid Jan . Still sounds like fire season . 5 months .

Yup. Lots of wind-related damage here in the Bay Area this morning. Dangerously dry and unusually warm in the mid 70's. No significant rain anywhere in the forecast. Not good. We are well short in terms of rainfall.

Hope the Sierra has ample supply of snow pack. We are going to need it.

Pray for rain. I love sunny warm weather as much as the next guy, but also realize that in the winter months we depend on getting rain and snow in the mountains; alot of it.
