Since I rode a bicycle.
I got fat, lost a leg, rebuilt the other one and more.
Still need a few adaptations but it’s a start.

good luck.. I was in a similar situation. over 30 years since on a bike., replacement hip and knee, got up to 430lbs,. dropped some weight and started riding 8 months ago at 365lbs,. today I am 222lbs and still losing.

50 miles a day 5 days a week and 100-160 miles on the weekends. I ride everyday, over 6,500 miles on the bike since 10-2020.. I have only put 2,200 miles on my car in the same time.

Thanks for sharing.
I was over 400 when the leg came off in a motorcycle crash. Haven't seen the 200's since high school. I will get there.

my hip and knee also due to a motorcycle accident, though mine was in 2001 and I was 190lbs when it happened. I was actually under 200 until 2006, damn HMO doctor took me off my thyroid medication and told me I didn't need it, in 12 years I ballooned up to 430lbs, thankfully with a new doctor and forcing myself to change my diet, eating habits, and get up and exercise I have been losing an average of 18lbs a month for 15 months.

I won't fully recommend a keto diet but I keep the weight off with a high meat diet. I rely on top sirloin which is affordable usually ( I stock the freezer with it when it's cheaper ) and I severely limit my carbohydrate intake. I will eat whole grain bread but it's gotta be REAL whole grain. Not brown wonder bread. All the veggies I want and I put butter on em. I drink a lot of whole milk. Healthy fat does not make you fat. Carbs and sugar (junk food ) make you fat. I don't get the cravings much any more and since my diet is boring I often only eat two meals a day. I get hungry enough .... that boring old steak starts to look just fine. The first few weeks of radical diet change are very tough. Your body will go nuts and come up with a thousand ways to punish you. BUT, you can eat all the good meat you want. Weight will fall off quickly.

EDIT: Bonus, this allows me to drink a couple beers most nights. Even the occasional scotch.

EDIT 2: No freakin ice cream. EVER. Might as well be heroine. I manage this when my resistance is functional. Like passing the ice-cream isle in the market. If somebody happened to put a carton of ice-cream in my freezer it would be gone in sixty seconds.

I can't eat bread, red meat, or drink anything carbonated. my diet is keto and will remain that way the rest of my life, with BCAA and other vitamin supplements. I had Gastric Sleeve surgery and 80% of my stomach removed.

I can only eat 4-6oz of "food" per meal, so I have to eat every 3-4 hours. fish, poultry, egg white, and plant based foods are all I can have. lost 90lbs before the surgery in 8-2020 and 140ish since. I have another 30-40 to go for my personal goals, I have already surpassed the goals set by the weight loss clinic and my insurance.

my "diet" has been the same for 15 months, and will be for the rest of my life. I no longer eat for enjoyment, I eat because I have to, same bland crap every day.. I have trained myself not to care about food any longer. my health is more important,

I was also directing my post to the OP.

Trike riding got me to a point now that I really want to ride on two wheels. Still battling balance issues but my ride yesterday confirmed that I can do this.
It is way more than a weight loss thing.
The electric assist will help me along on the trail. I rode with and without assist yesterday.
Next time I need to raise the seat.
