Is Tesla serious?

Concept design. Won't be like that when and if it ever comes to market. One problem is, no pedals. Without pedals, it has to be registered like a moped instead of the more free-and-easy bicycle, a major plus to the ebike as we know it.

I don't mind in the least if Tesla wants to play around with concepts like these. If any of the tech advances make it to the mainstream, we've all won, even if a bike like this never sees the light of day.

You'll find a few different kind of specimens in this automotive journalism and marketing world.

1) Journalists trying to live off of the Tesla growth by publishing sensationalist articles with no substance.

2) companies and oil lobbying industries trying to take a shot at Elon or some other EV company in hopes of discrediting them and push their own products.

This E-bike is in no way connected to Tesla but they get lot of hits if they mention Elon or Tesla, so why not capitalize on it and get some internet traffic. It's garbage journalism and I hope the EBR community recognizes it. Tesla team would never approve this design.
I hope EBR community realizes the cutting edge EV technology that is now being developed at Tesla. It's light years ahead and I'm sure people will realize it. Retail and institutional investors are recognizing that and the stock has been insane.

Concept design exercises, whether related to cars, trucks, or bikes often bear no resemblance to real products that hit the market.

Make it happen and take my money! ;)

> The Model B’s sleek frame comes with forward, side-facing, and rear proximity and LiDAR sensors that scan the surroundings to create a protective bubble around the rider, alerting them of any obstacle.

Um, on my daily commute that will trigger about 20 times each way as box trucks and muni busses rumble past six inches from the stripe of the bike lane. Not sure what it's going to accomplish that my ears and eyes don't already.

That said, I'd be down to demo one, if the lidar alerts can be turned off. Also, flat fixy?

Thank you Ravi for your enlightening post!

My observation is that, many people are not fan of pedaling.

Even "ebikes" like Rad Power and Juiced, I've seen people riding those ebikes exclusively throttle only.

Many people like the light weight and easiness of ebikes, but not necessarily the pedaling part. That's why e-scooters and e-skateboards are popular, because people don't care about pedaling.

Xiaomi, the Chinese multi-billion dollar corporation has introduced ebikes, but their ebikes do not have pedals.

Just like some people are enthusiastic about manual transmission on cars and motorcycles, many people do not care about manual shifting.

It'll be interesting to see how many people actually care about pedaling.. because as I said, I've seen many people using their ebikes throttle only.
Thing is, if it doesn't have pedals, then it's not classified as a bicycle anywhere in the US. Maybe the EU, too. And that has serious ramifications. In my state, North Carolina, you'd have to register as a moped and have insurance. Not the free-and-easy world of ebikes!
