I'm looking at doing a build with a 1985 Schwinn Cruiser but not sure what BB it has . The bike is 120 miles from me so I really cant look at anything right now but going to tomorrow . I'm wanting to do a BBSHD in it . Anyone have ideas on whether it's a screw in bearing BB ? TIA

For myself, that bike would be a non starter. I'd be looking for something with disc brakes. That's me though....

I like being able to change gears--I live in a very hilly area. Love having 7 speeds on my ebike--I use all of them.

Whether or not the bike will work for you depends on what kind of bike you want to ride. :)
In Japan many ebikes have regular rim brakes. There's no reason an ebike needs anything more if you are planning on a class 1 or class 2 type of build (max assist speed 20mph). I think if you plan to have a higher speed bike, you might want better brakes. That said, I do love the disc brakes on my ebike. It's all about what YOU want to do. :)

The only thing I am asking here is if anyone knows what the bottom bracket is . I'll figure the rest out later .

From your picture, it sure looks to be a one piece crank. (As an aside, when I was about 10 years old, I tried unsuccessfully to take mine apart.)

The hole in the frame is a larger diameter than what a 3 piece crank uses, and a BBS mid drive is sized for the latter. What people do is push out the bearing cups and replace them with reducing spacers. Mr. Bike Guy shows how it's done. I would guess/hope than that a mid drive kit would then fit inside the reducers. I dunno, as you have to make sure the width conforms to the 68-70mm width used for a BBS. Of course, you can buy the BBS with a longer width, like 100mm.
