Intro From St. Louis

Hello. Mine is a 2018 Biktrix Stunner Step Over*, with the 750 watt mid drive, the 5 speed Sturmey Archer, and the big battery. My wife's is a 2018 Evelo Aurora Step Thru, 750 watt mid drive, with the "big" battery, and the Envioli auto trans. Both are cadence sensing, and both have ~2K miles on them. My wife used our BikeBob trailer to store her COVID shot kits when she made vaccination house calls. The shut ins especially enjoyed that sight.

We have one 4 wheeled vehicle, so we use bikes for most of our south St. Louis commuting. We also winter on the Cal Coast and rack them behind our Escape 5.0 TA when we go there. Because of COVID, we are there now, just north of San Fran. Great bike trails around Marin and we routinely travel faster than the cars we pass all snarled up.

Short and sweet. Thanks for allowing me to join.

* Should have waited for a Step Thru. There is NO reason for guys to avoid them, and they make riding with a loaded BikBob trailer a lot easier.

Welcome the site.
Great your wife is a medical assistant. I could have used one of those shots 4/1/20, as I caught the 19 through a 3M M95 mask 5/13/20 at the hardware store. Couldn't wait to buy a toilet part. Not severe since I'm a biker with extra size lungs, but 137 days of fever, aches, dizzyness.
My main ride is a step through, I'm age 71. When I destroyed the derailleur on the bike left last week, my WT Grant (dime store) 3 speed with the cross bar I had to lay it down to mount! Fortunately it is only 25 lb. Ran over a stick. You're good, IGH's are stick resistant.

Thanks for the welcome. Hope you are fully recovered..

FYI, the new(er) Sturmey Archer 5 speed is not yo' daddies IGH. It seems to have been made to be the low(er) cost alternative to the high $ IGH's that can stand motorization. Since it has a speed increase of 25% in every gear, it has a high/low range of ~2.44. Plenty or my purposes If you can find a decent mid drive ebike equipped with it, I'd check it out. Biktrix fits that bill, but there must be others. And in general, the new(er) high enough quality, WAY lower cost mid drives, have been disruptive. Before buying our 2 mid drives, I thought that the practical solution was my Xiongdang, ~500 watt, 2 speed auto shifting, geared hub on a mountain bike front wheel. But that hub is the only multispeed motored hub that I know of, and it has too many problems.

FYI, wife had retired from nursing, then returned as a visiting nurse to to vaccinate. You can work, vacate for months as we are doing, then return. Since we live in St. Louis, this fall she will certainly be vaccinating those in the southern part of the state who snap out of their vaccine stubbornness when more of their friends and neighbors start sickening.

I am 70 and I wish I would have bought a step thru. At 6’2” it is getting harder to swing my leg over when getting on.

You picked a nice place to vacation. eBikes in and around Marin is pretty sweet fun. We're across the lake from you in the east bay. Have you taken the trek across the Golden Gate? It's a unique experience!

4 GG trips so far. Last one was sand blast windy! Our usual is to Larkspur ferry in, ride up to eat dim sum or Chinatown street food, ride around, then, either ferry/ride back to Marin RV. We went and saw the Avengers (free) at Stearns Grove (sp) last Sunday. A '70's punk band with lots of original fans in the crowd. What a people watch!. That was a long ride. Also we rack them over to see kids/g'kids in Castro Valley. Less good biking there.

Off to Pismo today, g'kids in tow. We raise the kids there, and the Castro Valley son and DIL are CPSLO grads. So, they will flit down a couple of times in Aug, to pick up g'kids and just to visit.

Not your first rodeo I see 🤣 Definitely have the N. CA thing well in hand👍 We were just in Santa Barbara and Ventura for week of riding but that was before getting the eBikes. Weather and conditions have been next to perfect. Enjoy Pismo but keep that sand off your chain!
