Installing Bafang BBS02

Hello,

I recently have gotten into E biking. I was wondering if anybody could display some pictures of how I can wire this up. I need help with the battery to motor part... I have yet to purchase the motor/battery but want to ensure I have all the pieces I require before it comes... Nothing worse than opening a present you cant use because of some connectors. I am no expert with electrics, however I do know how to solder and do have the materials required to solder wires together etc, I am just unsure of what connection I need for my battery, or if i even need to buy one or if it will come with a connector to get just a + and - then solder them to the controller.

Thanks,

J

The only connection you'll have to deal with from battery to motor is attaching the + and - leads. The battery should come with two sets of wires (if it is using integrated BMS). Generally speaking the lighter gauge pair connects to the charger port and the heavier gauge to the motor. It's very straight forward.

Not quite, well not for my Bafang BBS01 at least. Bafang as I understand it have a particular connector from the motor/controller so the battery needs the same or otherwise you need to cut off the existing connector and replace it with whatever you wish to use. This photo is of the connectors on my Bafang BBS01.

My full write-up of my installation can be found here.

Hi Andrew,

On the BBS02 kit the connector for the C961, Brake Cables, Throttle and Speed sensor are all color coded "Plug & Play". The only connection that the consumer has to devise is the battery to the power lead into the motor. The lead has two wire; a red (+) and Black (-).

Court J.

PS...I just looked at your website and the connectors are also color coded. In the case of the battery connection you can specify the connector type and Bafang will install it. Their standard connector on the BBS02 kit for the power connection is 5mm Bullet. In many cases whomever installs the battery and connects it to the motor will have to cut and solder.
