Hi. I would like have a charger for home and work. I see that buying an extra charger from Stromer is extremely expensive. Anyone aware of a reasonably priced charger that will work with a Stromer? Thanks.

Extremely expensive not.
Q is - did you get your St2s from a junkyard ??

Or you want to blow up both your battery and your coworkers offices using a cheap 50$ charger ?

And then is the noise pollution from the fan.

The cheap Charger fan in case you were wondering...

Why not buy a broken Stromer charger And use that cable/connector or just call them to find out about that connector ? Or inquire with Rosenberger co.

I am NOT a Stromer ST2S owner here. (I own Juiced CrossCurrent Air)

But I did some quick research for you and here's what I found.

Finding a charger for the specific voltage for lithium ion is easy, because you can just go on AliExpress and find a 54.6V (and whatever the amperage you need / want) for your battery.

54.6V 4A charger

54.6V 6A charger

However, here's a tricky part.

Most ebikes have DC (5.5 x2.1) connector, XLR connector, etc.
Stromer has Rosenberger connector, which is a rare kind, but you can still find a charger for it because Specialized, A2B, etc. used Rosenberger.

Here's a funny part, according to Grin Technologies, their Rosenberger adapter won't work on Stromer.
Did Stromer go extra mile to make sure normal Rosenberger connector won't work?
If that's the case, Stromer owners are really screwed because they're pretty much stuck with the factory charger, and the price they're charging is outrageous.

Grin Technologies XLK to Rosenberger connector.

Luna Cycle has Rosenburger connector, however they don't mention anything about compatibility with Stromer.

Luna has quite a few chargers, so they might be able to build a charger that's compatible with Rosenberger connector?
Their chargers look very similar to AliExpress, probably come from same factory.
And ask them if they had any experience with Stromer?
Wow, really appreciate you taking the time to research this. I would not be surprised if Stromer went the extra mile ...

I'm feeling nervous about using a non-Stromer charger now. Thanks again.

Or do they have a third or more connections for a com system between charger and battery? betcha!

There will be none, except you find a 2nd hand charger in the internet.

1kWh in a battery is a lot of energy - and a 1kWh battery is really expensive. Two very good reason to make the charging process safe (against incidents and against battery-degrading). Stromer uses an open-source bus protocol for the communication between charger and battery.

A small company has build such a charger:

but the price is on demand...

Thanks, as a new member, didn't realize how important the charger is to health of the battery. Now, will turn my search to a used Stromer charger (or shell out for new one).
