I hope, I hope, I hope...

That the Vado SL 5.0 I ordered two months ago arrives soon. My LBS contact called over the weekend and saw that in their Business to Dealer Spreadsheet that it was outlined in RED and that generally means that the bike was being packaged for shipping.

For the record I am eighty two years old and about 210 pounds and for the last eleven years I have been riding a Specialized Sequoia Comp bike. I have been averaging about 1000 miles a year. I live in a gated subdivision with about 600 homes and a little over 5 miles of nice wide paved roads. This year I am averaging about 13 mph. I generally ride between 15 and 20 miles every other day, weather permitting.

For the last seven years I have ridden exclusively in the confines of my subdivision. After about 8 am I pretty much have the roads to myself.

However each year the same hills seem to be getting steeper and my cadence is slowly dropping, yes getting old is hell.

I am really looking forward to the new bike. I am basically looking for something that gives a boost up the hills and lets me cruise a a slightly faster speed. The reviews indicate that the Vado SL 5.0 should do the job....

Welcome to the site.
I have a friend in his mid nineties that still swims laps at the Y 4 times a week. I hope my experience follows his although I was never a volunteer swimmer; my nose runs so badly underwater. I use the electricity on my bike, but mostly to keep my 27 mile biweekly commute that has extended to 35 miles with more & steeper hills due to construction and road deterioration within a 3.5 hour window. 3.5 hours exercise I deem enough.

Welcome, my wife’s family have a place on Perdido bay, worked at the Naval Air Station, we really enjoyed our visit a couple years ago. The Vado SL looks like a great ebike, would be fun to ride along the path out to Fort Pickens. May your bike arrive soon.

Congrats on your new ebike, GreyFox.
I think you will find that the ebike will flatten all the hills and annihilate any headwinds.
Many great miles to you.

A big welcome to you Gray 🦊. Don’t think about your age, just enjoy the ride like you were a teen again. There are plenty of bikes out there that will perform to your needs and desires.
