How to remove the limit of the eBikemotion X35 system?

Hello,

I am thinking about purchasing an e-road bike with an ebikemotion X35 system.

This system is featured on several bikes like the Orbea Gain, Ribble endurance sle, Bianchi Aria E-road etc.

To make the system more useable, I would like to remove the 25km/h factory speed limit. However, I have not found any discussions on forums about this yet.

Does anyone have experience with this? How is the speed measured by the system?

Thank you for the help!

@erider_61 I have read that thread and have not seen anyone proposing a solution. Can you point me at an aftermarket product that you know would work with this system?

I found this Dealer manual on the Orbea Gain's page (https://www.orbea.com/downloads/Dealer_APP_Manual_Gain_EN.pdf), which is equipped with the system. It says that

"Each time an eBike is made, all the information that concerns it(serial number, components) is sent by the manufacturer to the ebikemotion® Server. A manufactured eBike arrives at the store in a special mode called DEMO or TRANSPORT MODE, this configuration limits its speed to a maximum of 50km. Before the end user can cycle on the eBike, the store will have to change this configuration by changing its mode to ACTIVE MODE. To change the MODE the store has to connect the eBike to the Dealer APP by Bluetooth®, a short diagnosis is made before the activation. Once activated the eBike is considered as sold."

Does anyone have access to this app?

It's available in the iPhone or Android app store, but it requires a password to use it. I don't think it will allow you to change the 20 or 15.5 mph speed cap though.

You're right Mike. As happens, I was in the shop shop today, discussing this very subject. Dealer has his own login pass (obviously) they do not have the ability to alter, adjust output of the motor. Dealer app is for diagnostics and bike register database. In fact it's designed also to pick up units not been used in country that the bike is registered at.

Everyone is trying to raise the cut-off and I want my lowered from 20 MPH to 15.5 MPH. I only want help for acceleration and hills. My club cruises around 16-17 MPH (on 15 MPH trails) and not having an auto cut off at 15.5 is a pain in the neck. The high cut-off forces me to constantly manage the the assist level so I can do my maximum work. If you unlock how to make yours faster, it's my hope I can make mine slower. My favorite controller mods would allow cut-off speeds to be adjusted by power setting.

Hi Phil
I just read your comment on your thoughts on
Possibly going for a less power motor .
I purchased a Wilier bike thinking it will have the 20mph motor, it came installed with a
25kph motor. I received the bike Oct of 2021
But was unable to ride much this year due to a major surgery.
I would be interested in exchanging motors
If both of our components on the bike’s would accept the interchange??
Lmk
Rudy.
