How to get help to faults occurring and know what firmware you have

Having moved to West Yorkshire, I decided to switch to an ebike to flatten those hills.

the bike uses the ebikemotion 1 button iwoc system. I had a problem with "cell over voltage" and didn't want to send it back as its ithe last one and maybe they could fix it. So after some searching I found how to find out the firmware of each component inside the bike (iwoc button, controller, battery) and get solutions to the error I had (the errors that occur all get stored in a error tab with a PDF solution).

maybe obvious but just incase...

the steps :
  1. create an account with the ebikemotion app on your smart phone, which you can then use the app to see your rides and battery charge etc..
  2. Now on a laptop/tablet go to www.ebikemotion.com and click on the login tab and login to the website with the same credentials you used for the app.
  3. Now to register the bike to your account you have to go on a short ride and use the ebikemotion app to record the ride (start activity on app) and don't forget to save the ride (end activity)
  4. now when you go back to www.ebikemotion.com and log in you will see under "my bikes" all the details of your bike such as details of the battery, firmware, condition, version, the controller, version number, and the iwoc button, firmware and version, there's also a tab for any errors and the PDF is a link on how to fix them (I had the over charge error for while and its all documented there)

    attached screenshots of the data
you can also set alert mode - I assume this is if its stolen.

THis was really useful, thanks.

Where can I find out the latest firmware levels that are available, so I can make sure my bike is up to date?

Cheers
Guy

Sorry no idea, but my wife's bike same had a different firmware even though we bought them at same time.
also I found the only way to upgrade your firmware is via a dealer.
cycle dealers who the only ones allowed to have the "dealer app" and hence they are the only ones that can upgrade the firmware.
It's really annoying, its like having an iPhone and having to take it into the apple store every time I wanted an upgrade.

I believe e-motion have discontinued the Ebikemotion app and and have a new one called MySmartBike (its by a company called Mahle)

Just got my bike on Friday, still not been able to ride it cos of the storms and already it has fault no 193, so it is going to a local 'dealer' this week. Having googled it, it sounds like new firmware fixes it. Luckily the chap lives less than a mile away. But is crap that that you can update yourself

I was told by Mahle this morning that my X35 needs a firmware update. So there is a dealer in Leeds who updates Mahle motors but won’t touch my Ribble because each individual bike manufacturers have there own unique set ups on the X35. I was told to take the bike to Ribble but they don’t do the updates and have said take it anywhere who will do it. If only I can find a dealer who will do it 🙄it seems that Mahle have issued instructions informing dealers not to update and to send the customer back to the bike manufacturer. So I am going around in circles. 😠

I bought a Ribble bike with a Mahle X35. It now needs an update. I phoned Ribble in Preston, an hour away, and they said I'd need to take it to somewhere that did Mahle updates and suggested their place in Clitheroe. Phoned there and they said they don't do updates or repairs! Spent 2 days phoning around. Wheelbase weren't keen to try as they don't have much luck with updating Ribble bikes (only Ribble bikes) and said they thought Ribble put some sort of block on it - Ribble manager denied this. Have now to go to Penrith, an hour away. Very pissed off with Ribble for selling motors that they know will need updates and not telling you that or actually doing it. Also with Mahle for such a messy method of updating
