I have a helmet in XL size, I want to be using it when I ride on the roads arounds here,
I have a major problem with it, it is just slightly too tight fitting right around the temple area,
and after about 1/2 hr, I cannot stand it and HAVE to take it off, just slightly too tight etc.

What would be the best way to slightly expand this area or dimple it to fit better,
it has what appears to be hard Styrofoam with a very thin cloth covering.

Any suggestions.....................too make it fit, It's the biggest helmet I could find..........?
Tia,
Don

iff it has removable pads maybe you can remove the front one? if not it may be time to find a helmet that fits better by going to store. I had a heavy lumos helmet was fine with a balaclava but hurt my head without.

Is it a MIPS helmet or a cheaper one with just a styrofoam shape inside? Any kind of identification would sure help with recommending a fix. If it is mainly the styrofoam, just sand it back with 80 grit sandpaper. Of course that changes the designed strength and will likely not protect your head.

I'd try dimpling it with a small, light ball peen hammer. I'd do it leaving the cloth covering on.

Thanks Guys,

I'll have to go to the shop and see what brand it is,
but I believe it's a Calli brand, was around $50 on sale.

Go ride your ebikes without helmets to a nearby ebikes dealer with helmets and accessories dealer. Test fit some helmets while riding around the parking lot. When you have a helmet that fits your head buy it and ride home with a helmet.
It makes a whole lot of difference if you are fitted for helmets.

If you think I am going to peddle my butt 110+ mile (One Way) to Reno on I-80,
you have severely BUMPED your head and are crazier than a Loon...........LOL,
the closest bike dealer is in Reno, and besides the I-80 is closed to riding bikes in several areas, I don't feel safe driving my HD F-350 PU...........LOL
I may load my bike and haul it to Reno and ride it up there.........
Thanks,
Don

Here is an update on the tight fitting helmet,
I use what CN advise, a Ballpeen hammer,
and started lightly dimpling the area in a circular pattern,
slightly expanding the diameter, until I got a very nice fit,
with NO pain now.
I supported the helmet sides on my leg and just tapped,
until I got the needed relief etc.
Thanks CN, worked like a champ.
