How do you pronounce "Eco"?

English is a strange language.
For many, if not most, Ecology and Ecological have two different pronunciations of the"eco" bit.

EEcology
ECKological.

That's my experience anyways...

For my whole life I was pronouncing "Eek-hoo", but now looking on this thread, I have mixed thoughts

Oh you Canadians talk funny anyway, like what is this all aboot Living just 20 miles south of the 49th I have many opportunities to ridicule the way my friends from BC and the Yukon pronounce some words...and of course they liberally return the compliment...all in good fun.

I pronounce it just like the word "echo" It is spelled with one E not two.

We Canadians, like almost anywhere else on earth, have regional differences in language/dialect and accents.

But - honestly, I have NEVER heard ABOOT from anyone who hasn't lived extensively in the maritime provinces.
And I have lived many places from Vancouver BC to Montreal PQ, so I've heard a few "accents" in my time.

But if you've heard it the areas you've been to, you are a fortunate man, as Maritimers (as we call them) as a whole, are wonderful, fun-loving and caring people.
Some exceptions of course... but you get the idea I am sure.
