Hop-Heads and Beer Geeks Unite!

Over here, both Farmhouse ales and Saisons can be low, mid, or high ABV. Low ABV Farmhouse style ales with less yeast are called table beer here.
I understand. Craft brewers are innovative and no one can stop them brew what they like!

You certainly know what Malt Liquor is (or was). The cheapest crap known to America. Polish PINTA once brewed its own version of Malt Liquor (8.1%) but it did it the craft style, and the beer was exceptionally good!

@Jeremy McCreary, @stompandgo: It is not about low ABV. Jeremy mentioned cold Pilsner (around 32 F?), Clausthaler, Beck's or Corona. It simply doesn't belong here :)

From the times I was an active hop head. 10 bottles from eight different Polish craft brewers.

I know, I know, I'm a barbarian when it comes to beer. But I really DO love beer, and that's the hand the beer gods dealt me. No point in paying attention to connoisseur stuff if I can't drink it.

At least I have better taste in bikes than beer.

If we ever meet, you will pay for yourself, agreed? :)
Otherwise, I believe in "sharing is caring" :)

Of the people in the photo, Jerzy (the older man) passed away in April last year, and the woman at the right (my best friend second only to my late wife) died yesterday...

I taught Jerzy appreciate good beer. He invented a motto: "If it is craft beer at 7% abv or above, it is defo a good ale!" He was a pensioner, not rich. He always had some copper to pay for his beer. Still, I shared expensive ales and stouts with him. (Pictured: Artezan Brewery Samiec Alfa (Alpha Male), once one of the best Imperial Stouts of the world).

I like low IBU beers. One of the local microbrews makes a nice Belgian quad sometimes. Another microbrew in town produced a nice batch of beer fortified with some Scotch whiskey, and that was really tasty; they called it "Way Off Kilter." Their kolsch is a steady favorite, too.

At our metro area's Oktoberfest last fall, I got the first stein from a freshly tapped keg of Schneider Weiss, and wow, I really enjoyed the flavor. Wish I could buy it more often. No idea if the bottled version is as good as the keg, though.

Most Belgian quads that I've had are dark and malty. Low IBU, but full of flavor and quite high ABV.

I saw an Irish rock band at Disney World called Off Kilter. They had the bagpipes alongside the Marshalls. Needless to say, we sent the kids off on their own and had a few pints during the show.

This is my favorite.....its very good!
Tried some this weekend - it's good! Though I bet I would like it a lot more out of a tap.

Lucky to live in a place where you're more likely to find Manny's on draft at a bar than Coorsweiser. It's the go to choice when you just want a beer with your food
and don't feel like choosing between a dozen IPAs you have never heard of.

folks lacking the enzymes to break down certain
This is an interesting factoid regarding wine. People with lactose intolerance cannot drink high-end wine. Generally speaking better wine goes through a secondary fermentation with a bacteria in the barrel. It is called malolactic fermentation. It takes the maloc acid which has a hash bite and turns it in to a creamy smooth lactic acid. High-end wine makes many Asians bloat and fart because they tend to lack the enzymes. And many of those same people lack the enzymes break down alcohol. Now I wonder if creamy smooth beers also impact people who are lactose intolerant in the same way. I like to get head that has a creamy finish.

I can't drink wine. It gives me a splitting headache. I can take small sips to discuss taste with my wife, who is a wine drinker. I guess I have no enzymes, and no class as well. 😁
