Help deciding between bikes

Would massively appreciate some advice as I just can't choose a bike.

I'm trying to find a new commuter bike. Roughly 4 miles each way. No need for long distances. Had an EJoe 2015 epik SE which I hated. It fell apart and stopped working pretty early on and customer support sucked. It also wasn't very sturdy. It's just sitting dead in my garage now so I'm pretty burned by that experience.

Looking for something sturdy, fairly fast and with good support. I was looking at the Evelo Aurora which I can get for 3k with the 500w motor or the Stromer ST 1 platinum which I can get for 2.8k. Anyone got experience with these or have other suggestions?

The E-Glide ST is selling at a promo price of $1699. Good reviews on EBR and ST owners in this forum seem to love it. Hoping to place my order before the end of the month.
That does look interesting but my concern would be the same as my previous bike. If something goes wrong will I get decent support. That's why I'm tempted to go with Stromer. Just want something reliable that isn't going to start giving me complications a few weeks in.

osman-Perhaps not a bad idea to check and see if you can get local support in your area before purchase. I see your frustration with the 1st bike. I like BH Easy Motion myself due to the good warranty and tech support seems to be reliable. They look to be quality built like their competitors in that class. Good Luck with your next purchase!

I'm a big fan of Bosch powered Haibikes. Wonderful engineering. Still some 2017 models out there at great prices. Advertised at starting under $1000 at a dealer in Madison, Wi.

any particular models you might suggest around the 2k range?

I ride a 2016 Trekking S RX and 2016 Full Seven S RX. Both are speed versions, 28mph. I paid $2600 for old model year Trekking, and $2800 for a demo Full Seven. You'll pay less for the 20mph versions. The Trekking has a rack and fenders, great commuter bike.

My 2 cents: Karmic Koben S.
$3k
Variable transmission drive
Belt drive
Hydraulic brakes
Bafang max (?) motor with color LCD.
Carbon fork (no suspension tho)
No throttle.

I demo rode this for a couple days doing a 22 mile round trip commute. Seemed solid.

Thanks guys. I went the with the Magnum Peak after I test rode it. Seemed perfect for me. Minor quibbles - no lights built in, or a rack, seat it came with wasn't great but it handles some of the crappy roads and it gets to 25-28 in no time. Thanks again!

Osman1,
I ride a Trek XM700+ and absolutely love it. The Bosch Motor / Controller is silky smooth and powerful. I found the
bike a little too stiff for my liking so I installed a Cirrus BodyFloat Seat post. 'Problem' solved. Treks service is fantastic
via my LBS....Good luck.

I don't understand one thing with Magnum. the battery brand is mentioned as "Samsung / DLG / Panasonic ". So do they use random batteries or mixed ones as i see no way to choose one of them.

Vicki-Good question. Got me curious also. Your best bet is to shoot Magnum an email asking them to clarify...

PCDoc- I really like your E-Glide ST suggestion. Many nice features and components at a nice price point. I also like the option upgrades being offered. The Dapu rear dive hub motor is a selling point for me as well. Great pick indeed!

I'm looking at the Magnum Peak now too. Waiting to hear back on shipping charge to Honolulu. Their Shipping Calculator doesn't seem to update the price for any zip code. Did you go with the 27.5 or 29" wheels and what's the standover height? How do the stock Schwalbe Smart Sam tires perform on the road?

I got the 27.5 not sure about the height guess around 30" or so. Tires performing pretty well so far and I ride it on pretty rough roads on occasion. This is the first super heavy bike I've ridden and it takes some getting used to - can't make turns as sharply as I can on my non electric. Overall pretty happy with it, feels sturdy and gets up to 25 with little effort.
