Help - Choosing a bike with a smooth e-assist feel

I have a Cube Reaction Pro Allroad with the Bosch Performance CX motor. I find the power assist in EMTB mode is very natural. As a bonus the bike is very nimble and handles extremely well.

Had that on my list as well. Nice bike!

Why do you think that's so?

One ebike line that interested me was the Electra Townie line, but no throttles.

Mid-drives are popular in Europe, because they have a lower power limits than we have in the US. Being able to run your motor through your gears helps make up for that lack of power. Most of Europe doesn’t allow throttles, so mid-drive systems designed for that market don’t have throttles.

In the US, mid-drives are also nice to have for serious mountain biking, because they work well while traversing tricky technical sections. Many MTB trails that allow ebikes are starting to not allow throttles, because people believe them to be more dangerous and bad for the trails.
