Help - can I use this throttle for my ebike?

Hey everyone, I'm wondering if I would be able to hook this grip twist throttle: https://goo.gl/ASvPAC onto my controller for my ebike kit. The only problem is that there are 6 wires designated for a throttle in my kit: (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) while the throttle that I want to use only has 3 wires. I assume this is because its intended throttle features a LED battery indicator. Would the grip twist throttle work with my ebike if I were to connect the wires to 3 of the wires coming out from my controller and ignore the other 3? If so, which wires do I connect together? I imagine I cannot connect them solely based on color correspondence?

Thanks.

Every three wire throttle that I've seen is red, white, and black with red connected to +5, black to ground (battery negative) , and white being the output. The pic in your six wire thumb throttle shows they do this. So if this is what you see on the twist throttle, you can connect by color.

However, you still need the other three wires from your old throttle wired up to start the bike. Do you plan to keep the switch and LED function and add the twist throttle too? In that case, just disconnect the white and red wires on (two wires) the old throttle and leve the others connected. That diasbles the old thumb throttle, so you can connect the three wires from the new one.

No, I want to just use the grip twist throttle and take out the thumb throttle completely. Is there any way I can do this? And sorry, I'm confused. If I were to only disconnect the white and red wires on the old throttle, how can I connect all three wires from the new throttle? Or do I leave the black wire open?

Have you already got the bike running with the thumb throttle? Most people prefer the thumb throttle. My first kit had a twist throttle that I changed out for a thumb throttle because it gave me more freedom to arrange the handlebar controls. A little safer too, as it was too easy to twist the throttle when walking the bike.

The 6 wire thumb throttle has the battery status LED's and start button. Two useful features. If you junk it, you need to figure out how to power up the bike. Cannot help you with that as I don't know how the brown and yellow wires work here. Maybe whoever sold you the thumb throttle can point you to a twist version with the same wiring,

To use the 3 wire throttle with the 6 wire throttle, the black wire must stay connected as it is the ground wire for both the throttle and the LED status circuit. You would add the black from the 3 wire throttle to it.
