Back into biking after a llllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnggggg absence . Got back into riding a motorcycle about 6 years ago, but always seemed like something missing. Because of age and weight I have been staying away from a regular bike. About a year ago decided to shed the weight and get back into a more healthy lifestyle. Still had the age thing though which seemed to be equalized once I learned about ebikes. After some research I pulled the trigger on an Lectric XP. It has really been fun and even though I'm around 240 . I'm headed in the right direction but it takes a while to get there. No crash diet stuff here. Still even with a 500 watt motor I have been able to conquer most hills with a little effort. I can even do 30 degree grades as long as they aren't longer than about 20 feet. After that I'm walking or taking an alternate route. But now I have a bug to conquer this one hill which is a good 30 degrees for about 200 feet, and it's on a paved bike path, go figure. So I'm already looking to make my own build so I can ride up that stupid hill. Maybe with your guys help, I'm may do just that.

Cheers,

Welcome to the site.
My 1200 W 48v geared hub motor from ebikeling will start me and 60 lb supplies on a 15% grade. About 300-320 lb. But he doesn't sell those anymore. From a dead stop it tops out at 4 mph loaded on 15%, but I usually can carry momentum from the previous hill and average quite a bit more.
I lost 55 lb over about 9 years, about 6 lb a year. Biking and not driving helped a lot.
Happy shopping.
