Hello from Sunny California - Retired and seeking first e-bikes

My wife and I are retired and travel often in our RV towing our Hella Yella Jeep Wrangler. We've been riding hybrid bikes for years and have been researching getting e-bikes.
We had narrowed our list down to the Rad City Step Thru 3 or the Blix Aveny. Reviewing the postings on the Forums, we realize that the Direct Drive motor on the Rad is a deal killer. We'd prefer a twist throttle over the Blix trigger but the geared drive and higher torque looks like a winner even with the lower motor power (500 vs 750). We like the price point but with Coronavirus disruptions, we haven't been able to get a test ride on either. We'd appreciate any suggestions. We're in the Sacramento area.

Welcome - To the EBR forums... and to the current challenge of finding in-stock e-bikes to test ride!

I can only give one personal preference: Being a motorcycle rider I am accustomed to twist throttles, and our original Pedegos (dating back to 2010 and sold earlier this year) also had twist throttles.

But we have found that (at least in our case) thumb throttles on e-bikes were much preferred to the twist throttles.

Good luck in getting your new e-bikes!

Have you considered Rad Rover Step Thru?

It has geared hub drive.

Thank you so much Timpo. We had dropped the Rad Rover Step Thru because I thought it had Direct Drive.
Still not sure I like the 4" tires and the added weight. Plus I like the curved handlebars of the Rad City & Blix.
Maybe I can swap handlebars and make the Rad Rover into a Rad City with geared drive. That might be ideal.
