Hi, new member and new Specialized Vado owner here.

I’m a senior citizen who considers the bicycle one of the best inventions ever.
Would like to see if an e-bike can make my bike excursions even more pleasant and perhaps take me a bit further away from home more often. I have generally had no problem with doing somthing like 30 - 35 miles on day excursions on my old Gary Fisher Utopia but it’s time to try out the new stuff.
So I ordered a red men’s medium size Specialized Vado 4.0 last week and hopefully it’s at the dealer ready for pick up on Thursday. I tried the bike and liked the seating position, a little bit less forward lean compared to my Utopia, and the quiet motor. In Europe the motor assist cuts out at 25km/h (15.5mph) on bikes that don’t require registration. I don’t think I often pedal faster than that on my Utopia but found out during testing the Vado that on flat ground (and maybe a bit tailwind) I could go unassisted above 25km/h.

Additional info
I actually live just outside the city limits of Stockholm (1.5 miles) in a municipality named Solna. From where I live it’s about 4 miles to Stockholm city center. I almost daily take my bike into the city if I’m not going for a little trip outside the city. In the winter I walk there, not daily but weekly.

I sold my 2017 Kawasaki Versys X 300 to finance the Vado:)
That’ all for now, as a new member I have to move on to the other threads and start asking questions ;)

Welcome to EBR, @PaD. Without a doubt you will enjoy the Specialized. Please share a bit about the places you ride and some pics; we all enjoy seeing those e-wheels :)

Hej och välkommen

We love pics of bicycle lanes and with bikers and ebikers. Would love to see Stockholm!

Tack!
I’ll try to fullfill your inclinations for bicycle lanes;)
Don’t have any bags on my Vado yet but could of course take my compact camera in a backpack. Some bike lanes in Stockholm are at rush hour somewhat scary for an elderly gentleman but I’ll see what I can do:)
Stockholm is really nice in summer and the right size for biking. During summer there are a lot of tourist stepping around in the bike lanes so biking is better done with care. I think the tourist are a nice part of the city life in the summer.
