Hello From Portland, OR

I've just registered and been browsing the Forum for info and tips. Last week I ordered 2 Lectric XP ebikes form their website. They tell me the delivery should be in the first week or two of July. I've been thinking about buying for a week or two. I've read the entire 150+ pages of their thread and learned so much more that I could imagine about the bikes. That confirmed that I have made the right decision on my purchase. It should be a good summer for me and my wife with the new toys. If there are any other users in the area, drop me a line and maybe we can chat about ebikes and where to ride locally.

Did you check out the two bike only bike shops portland has? being able to test ride a bike and getting on you have support for is a great thing.

I did not visit any local shops since I had already made my buying decision. I prefer to not waste the time of brick & mortar vendors when I know I will be buying elsewhere.

well test riding bikes lets you know if it actually fits you. one size does not fit all. but hopefully you don't need one of those stores to repair that bike if something goes wrong.

I don’t know why they would not work on a bike they didn’t sell? Seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Do you work for one of those stores? As I posted in my intro, I am average size & weight. Most bikes will fit me fine I believe.

because the bikes are hard to work on the electronics are generic and the parts can be hard to replace because they are low end and generic and not always standard. I don't work at a shop I just see other people struggle with such things.

They certainly have the right to turn away business if they are not capable. I doubt that if they sell ebikes, they would not be familiar with similar equipment.

Hi guys!!
I see this is an old post but I'm a native Oregonian so..
I'll chime in to defend my bike..Lol!
Luckily most parts are plug and play too!
I have only spoken to my local bike shop generally. They have been completely helpful.
I was lucky enough to be sponsored, as a BMX racer for years as as a teen.. I have full knowledge of bike mechanics.
Any doubts.. there's always YouTube.
So.. for me all I wanted was a strong folding platform to build on. This bike was absolutely perfect, and trouble free.
The rain is no problem.. it will take your average rain, however I choose not to ride in downpours.
Its for cruising the bike paths and the Deschutes river on fly fishing trips.
And above all, keeping up with the grandkids.. lol!
Will I ever buy another E-bike?
No way!!
I'll build it from scratch.. I was new to ebikes and had a fresh stimulus check in my pocket last year.
It has been the best purchase ever.. I missed the feel of my old school bike..
Now Its all come rushing back. And with two throttles!! What a blast!
The XP is an excellent reliable choice for the person who doesn't see the value in a bike that costs 2,000 to10,000 bucks!
To the bike companies I say "Its an over 50 pound Bike in most cases.. don't pretend it's a BMW."
Awesome!
Cheers guys!!
Racer
