I live currently live in the Millsmont community and looking for fellow Oakland eBike Riders for daily or at least weekly riding.
I have a 2020 RadCity Step-Thru 3

Don't recall the neighborhoods, but I was born in Oakland, CA over 70 yeras ago. Grew up in what was then called the East Bay Area. Remember falling into Lake Merritt as a kid with my dad pulling me out. Childrens' Fairy Land, the Zoo, lots of memories...

Welcome to EBR, Muiren!
There is a an active bike community in the East Bay... I am sure others will chime in.

A small world for sure! I was born in SF and grew up in the Oakland Hills... also learned to ride my first bike around Lake Merritt. ;)
Spent a lot of time as a teenager at the Grand Lake Theater and the local Kwik-Way drive-in for a burger and greasy fries after a movie.

Welcome Muiren! My Family was in Oakland too. On Sunnyside street where the park is now. They lived there pre WWII and after internment camp, returned there. There are some great places to ride in your area.

Don't remember the street but I remember my parents talking about the first house they had, the house where I was born. It was in Oakland just after 'the war' (WWII). My dad and his brothers got together and helped each other build their first houses, all of them in the East Bay Area. We'd visit uncles, aunts, and cousins (lots of cousins) around the Bay every holiday and many weekends. At my grandfather's funeral procession there were over a hundred cars making their way up into the Oaklnd Hills with police escort to pay their last respects to the son of a share cropper.

@muiren, welcome and thank you for bringing back these memories!

Intersection of MacArthur Blvd and 68th Street. You must remember Evergreen Cemetery, you know, the one where Huey P. Newton the Black Panther is buried?

Sorry, Oakland was a long time ago for me. I remember Huey Newton, but no more specifics than that.

Welcome to the forum! You might find local ebiking groups on FB. I hope you can make some friendly connections for cycling here, too!
