What's this?
Looks bigger than Phaserunner 😲
But the spec of Phaserunner seems superior.
I guess this one is going to sit in the middle of Baserunner and Phaserunner?

This series of controllers are Android ready. When iOS is ready I’m in with Frank! Having controllers capable of a range of settings is not only fun but practical. Having an app making switching batteries easy peasy. I can run any of my batteries. Perfect for my modular battery build too. I’m just having too much fun! My baserunners will finally go in my Reention Polly cases.

FRANKENRUNNER CONTROLLER
Frankenrunner Controller with Over-molded L1019 Motor Connector and WP8 CA Plug. 87V Max Battery Voltage and 96A Peak Phase Currents (~55A at Thermal Rollback).

The FrankenRunners appear to be temporary products combining the off the shelf ASI controller with the connectivity from the BaseRunner/PhaseRunner controllers since Grin can't produce new PhaseRunners for a while. These new controllers also incorporate the capabilities to support other displays other than the Cycle Analyst, but right now the only thing that seems to be documented (it's in the manual) is the connector itself.

It will be interesting when Grin (or other) publishes the list of compatible 3rd displays. Right now it appears from Grin's comments that they're only working with ebike or display manufacturers rather than end user/DIY folks.

I'd love to see a new series of controllers (not these Franken things) from Grin incorporating the Cycle Analyst functions and using the industry standard serial bus connectivity/communications to a range of dumb (but popular) displays. So there would only be one cable between the controller and the handlebar items (display, throttle, brakes, etc.) and other items like external speed and PAS/torque sensors can go directly to the controller.

If I had my wish I'd further like to see one version of this new fictitious controller packaged to replace the ones in Bafang SO2/HD and M series motors.

Edit: changed "get" to "produce new PhaseRunners ..."

This from Justin?
Yup, It's on their website ... and PhaseRunners have been out of stock for a while.

Grin's home page from Oct 2021 ...
"Due to all the supply issues with semiconductors it seems that the best case is mid 2022 before we'll be able to produce our Phaserunner units again. "

Just heard my batteries are delayed. Locked down until the 5th, but a friend in China, who I only here from when he’s somewhere secure, indicates we’ll be lucky if it’s only that long. Shoot! I have 4 I need.

i missed the details, thanks. Guess my Baserunners are good for now. Probably best to back off.

When it rains it pours ... or other such comments about the supply chain being under pressure. World wide Covid lockdowns, general slowdowns to various economies, badly bottlenecked transportation services and the lack of shipping containers = big increase in costs, now there's big fuel costs hikes and regional Covid shutdowns in China. It appears that limitations in getting regular supplies of many products will last through 2022.
