Greetings to every, I’m an old dilapidated Army Vet dog (55 years old)

So I recently purchased a revi cheetah (please don’t shoot) only cause I got a hell of a deal, no payments for twelve months and zero interest I’m one of those that like to improve on things (done plenty of cars and a few motorcycle’s). My goal is to do long distances 5-7 days bikepacking.I’m up in Ohio and man do they have some awesome bike trails.my late wife and I had plans to do the same , but in a car, we’ll try to get a car (kind of hard on a single fix income) in the last 6 years I managed to get what I need to do the bikepacking adventure, right now I’m waiting for the rear rack to come in, then all I need is to pick up so bags and off I go. I do have one question and I’m sure that there’s hundreds of pages written on this forum alone, but you’ll going to forgive my laziness . I really want to replace the outdated controller in my cheetah, I have no doubts that I can do has I been blessed with being mechanically incline, but not an electrical engineer. So besides the motor running hot, what else am I looking at if I put the 1000w controller with the 750w engine.. I have not doubt that you all know what’sin the cheeta, besides the RM G060. 750w, it has a LSW1332, I did some rese on it and all I got was that the company that makes it is still making controllers, but I hade zero luck finding much on the controller it self. I’m really glad I found this forum, lot’s of good info and thank you to the person that was responsible in letting me be a member!

Shouldn't be any problem oversizing the controller as the motor will only draw as much current (wattage) as it needs and a heavier duty controller will just run cooler and should last longer . . . . so long as it's compatible

You might check out ebikes.ca and talk with Justin or one of the guys in the shop about the Phaserunner controller, they can really guide you and they are very smart and good people not looking to upsell or snow you. The stuff they make is a little more expensive, but they can really help out on the customer service front and help you with wiring, plus all the stuff is really well documented which helps hugely! They also sell and can support you with Statorade which will help with cooling/heat issues. They shouldn't even stamp motors with watt ratings, because it's meaningless. It all depends on RPM/efficiency curve, environmental, duty cycle, etc. There is no "750W" or 1000w" motor, unless it's rated at that wattage in all conditions/rpm/continous duty - which ebike hub motors certainly are not rated that way! You can also check out the winding efficiency of your motor (or a close proximity) at various loads/speeds with some tools on ebikes website too, if you want to do some simulating. https://ebikes.ca/tools.html Good luck!

TY Alphacarina , now I feel better knowing I’m not the only old dog in messing with today’s younger
generation technology. I have the rack and fenders coming soon, once I put them on the bike, I’ll post some picks with the few changes I made. My main goal is to set the bike up for bikepacking, they have some awesome bike trails here in Ohio.

The display and controller must be able to "talk" to each other. You really can't randomly change components and have a working eBike. What do you hope to accomplish with a bigger controller? Send more current to the motor and you reduce range. I really don't think you picked the right geometry bike for long distances. The pedal forward design on the Cheetah does not let you efficiently put your leg muscles to their best effort compared to a traditional trekking style bicycle. But my idea of long distance might be different from your ideas. I'd suggest you make a trip or 2 before choosing to modify the bike. You might be thinking about a different style eBike after those trips.

I did a 67 mile and a 147 and felt find. I Played around with the 5-6-9 pas and the six felt the best for me.
once I get the rear rack and pick up some bags and load it with my camping equipment, I’ll be able to get a true feeling for it. the biggest problem I had was my arse hurting, I replaced the seat with the senior citizens c9 cloud and a zoom seat post, I only been able to ride in town due to weather, but if the comfort I felt is anything to go by, I would said that probl is fix..As far as why I want to replace the controller and I’m aware I’ll need a diff display, is speed, maybe better performance, longer range ? I got lucky, when I got the bike, the batt was not charging, I was upgraded to the 17a for free and I know that alone helped. Something about a piece of equipment I can’t find to much info about don’t sit well with m and I know I’m not alone. TY Rich

Welcome to EBR. You actually are a "younger" member here, and perhaps a bit stronger rider, but I would not jump in to extensive bike packing right away.Do a few day trip rides, and after 20 or 30 miles you will have a much better feel for what works for you.

Thank you Art.. I think rich was right, I pick the wrong bike, but maybe not for the reason of going long distance, but for the problems a new bike should not have. First the battery would not charge, now when I shifted the pas into two I got no pedal resistance when the prior rides I would be in six pas and seventh gear I felt resistance and the battery drain really fas.. I think I should just stick to humping my backpack On my feet.
