I use both a Garmin Montana 650T and a Garmin Oregon 450. I use two devices so I can display a map on the larger Montana screen and the ride stats on the Oregon. This saves the trouble of pressing buttons to switch back & forth. I ride mostly trails and the Montana has built in topographic maps showing more detail. The Oregon also allows for connecting sensors for things like heart rate and cadence.
The Garmin's also allow you to upload .CSV or .GPX files created on a PC with waypoints for things like trailheads, trail tracks, parking lots, points of interest, etc.
There are other models out there with cycling specific features that might be more suited to your needs however. In my case, I started with Garmin many years ago and just stuck with the brand.
