Getting rads of attention

I agree with your thoughts, @dm nelson. The Alivio is a better built derailleur that's not all plastic and has longer arms to the rollers to better accommodate some of those super wide freewheels. This derailleur will last longer and holds adjustments better. It's an inexpensive upgrade. A bash guard or chain guide can also help with front chainring hops. Also suggest looking for a stiff link or two. Something as simple as that can cause a chain to jump and again not unusual with a new bike. If you do find this is an issue, any standard chain tool comes with a link spreader, just be careful to not overdo it and have the pins too loose.
Why do people accept chain and transmission problems with e-bikes? Over the years I have given my mountain bikes a hard time but they have always been up to the job. As I have said elsewhere it makes me believe that too many e-bike manufacturers use components that are just not fit for purpose.

Single track with this bike is impressive! Regularly I still ride my much lighter and better equipped mtn bike for, what I call, single track trails. With all that radrover weight I can imagine the chain may bounce around. Perhaps upgrading to Alivio derailleur might add more chain tension. It's one step up from the stock derailleur, and will still integrate with the 7 speed shifter and cogs. Happy exploring!

Try some tight single track that's worn and rutted sometime. . . It's a workout !

I was thinking of a even better derailleur . . . . Like a older used 7 speed XT.

Thanks for your reply !

Single track with fat tires sounds exciting! Currently I have an xt on my 11 sp mtn bike! Would be great if an xt would work with the radrover's 7 speed.

Cornishman are your mtn bikes higher end bikes or 400-500 dollar bikes?

The radrover is a lower end ebike and i would expect it to have lower end components

Think these problems are less likely on a $4000-5000 haibike

Personally i havent had any issues with chains etc , the few problems i have experienced have been electrical
But i ride my bikes pretty easy and my rover is not ridden like a real mtn bike, just gravel/dirt roads

This is a entry level e-bike and a good one for the price.

Rad Bike has been able to keep the price down with the
lower class of components. This is my first e-bike and I
am really enjoying it a lot.

I have ridden some pretty tough and rough single track
with mine and I am impressed with the performance
for the lower price level. I will agree with you on one
thing for sure. . . Spend 4 or 5 thousand bucks and
you will get a much better bike.

Off to my e-bike commute to work !

I'm getting more attention with this electric bike than I ever got riding my "regular" bikes. I notice people smiling when they see me charging up in public.

Spent much of my life living & working on Indian Reservations in AZ. Have tesla charging stations made it out to the wild west?

have seen a lot of the tesla charging stations right off I 10 in Casa grande

Had not paid much attention in Tucson but I'm sure that there are some, I see quite a few teslas on the road here
