Hi Everyone,

New member and looking for my first e-bike and getting back into riding. Planning on road and light trail. Found this new for $3k (originally $3800) and was wondering what you thought about it. I recall Fuji being “the bike” in the 90s, but haven’t heard much about them since. There isn’t much info about this bike that I could find in a search. Any guidance or suggestions on alternatives are appreciated.

Thanks.

Given the price vs specs, it is an attractive offer. Bear in mind it is the older generation Bosch motor (but easier to de-restrict if you wanted doing that).

Who is going to service or warranty the bike, and more importantly the electrical bits, if need be? I would sort that out before spending that much money, no matter what discount is involved.

Great point Nova. There are a few LBS that will service it. Not sure how the warranty will work given that it’’s still new, but buying outside of the dealer network. I guess that’s one of the negatives about it.

Stefan-interesting comment about de-restrict. What can be expected when you do this?

Thanks for all the feedback.

The U.S. speed restriction of 20 mph is gone, so the motor doesn't get cut off at that speed and the motor continues assisting your pedalling. Since speed restriction is done for legal reasons only, it turns out a 250 W (nominal) mid-drive motor allows achieving higher speeds, in practice only limited by air-drag. (It is more pronounced with 25 km/h Euro e-bikes of course). Needless to say, de-restriction is illegal.

The latest motors are always equipped with new mechanisms to prevent de-restricting them; for instance, I'm not sure if the electronic dongle to derestrict Bosch Gen 4 exists yet.
