Frey vs Biktrix

Gonna be a few days until we get it on the road as he has no battery. I am in the process of making him a 34ahr 52v battery and I just got the layout dialed in as far as overall shape and groupings. Removed the battery connection stabs on the lower end and also the top locking tab to figure out rough battery shape. Grinded off the top battery mounting tab and figured out the best way to feed the Pos/Neg wires coming from the motor to plug into new battery. Will take a couple of pics,
tomorrow to clarify. Still a work in progress will fine tune it in the next day or so. Batteries delivered this afternoon so will get that going asap.

Where the wires are coming out of the bottom section on the side don't worry I'm not just running them out through a hole they will be sealed at bottom of frame under spacer and go through a grommet coming out the side. Will send my buddy over to ACE Hardware tomorrow morning to get the grommet. He's gotta do something it's his day off. Will probably spot weld, mount and wire up BMS Thursday and be finished and charged up Friday so we can roll out to Buckman Springs on Saturday and give it a good do. Like Cap't Ron says if somethings gonna happen it's goona happen out there. You had to see the movie.

Im back. I got the pics and I was also wondering if someone could give me some info. Most if not all Bafang Ultra motors I have seen ( 2- Wattwagon, 1-Biktrix ) have a sticker on bottom of motor stating 48v-30a-1000w. The bike my friend just got from (AK Vapour) has a sticker that says 52v-30a-1000w.

From what I remember the battery supposedly coming with this complete bike package is 48v 14ahr. I know when I ordered my motor and upgraded controller from WW he asked what voltage battery I was going to run and I told him 52v But my sticker says 48v.

Overall bike seems pretty good, minus the suspension downgrades.

Sorry about hijacking this thread. Don't know where else to post up info on the "AK Vapour bike" as they are not listed among brands and I mentioned these bikes on this thread previously so in for a penny in for a pound I guess. Heres a pic of the "after" grind and paint on the upper "Lock mechanism mount".

Ended up using a 3d Fabrication CNC machine to build a cap of sorts for the lower battery mount void that will sit below the "New" battery.

Not really... just used some 3/8" plastic and some silicone for the top cap and then used (4) screws to hold it in place, sealed off the existing holes and installed grommet to protect wires coming from motor.
Now that the "Base" is squared away I will get to the actual battery build mañana. Got all my batteries tested and prepped with the insulator tabs already on and all the nickel belt cut-outs completed. So I layed out my groupings for assembly and will hot-glue the batteries inlace and then spot weld the nickel. Then I will mount the BMS and run the sensing wires as well as the larger wiring for the charger and motor and then insulate and seal up to put in the velcro battery bags I am using and hopefully it fits, just kidding I checked 4 times it will fit. I will also install XT90 plug on wires coming form motor and heat shrink for physical protection and then charge up to 58.8V and verify all is in good order and then see how it rides. I think if we need to tweak the programming I have my bike (Wattwagon Archon X1) to compare to. I know apples to oranges as far as programming layout but I think I can figure it out. Another friend has a Biktrix Juggernaut FS and we can plug his motor up on my computer to see his settings and go from there.

Will post up more later. Couple of more pics

Dang! This is impressive! Makes me very envious and wish I'd developed skills like these when I was still young enough to learn instead of at that stage where I forget more every day. 🤣 👍👍👍

Bike is completed and should get on the road this weekend. Battery went pretty smooth. Going to do a full review on the WW section as far as good and bad features on the bike IMO. At least there will be one "Review" on the bike on the internet as I couldn't find any info on the bike package ordered on-line. Hopefully it will help someone in a similar situation on purchasing the same bike or going a different route but at least this one will be a known build.

Bike tipped the scales at around 74lbs. FWIW Motor is about 12lbs and battery is 17lbs.

Pretty cool. One question: What keeps those batteries from shaking apart during hard riding over rough ground?

After all connections are made I verify voltage on all plugs as it should be the same 49.2v. All batteries are shipped in a low charge state 3.59v. Then I wrap insulating non-conductive paper around both sides and then cut 3/16" foam board and cover both sides as well as all around. Seal up everything with gorilla tape and place in bag. Velcro straps hold the bag in place and not a lot of movement once installed.

Only issues I have had is when one of my knucklehead buddies washes his bike down and shorts out a plug or something, usually water being involved is the cause. Other issues are either motor controller problems or sensor related. Battery's are pretty bulletproof.

As far as shaking loose everything is wrapped up pretty tight so worries. I had more issues with my original "Luna Sharkpack" 14ahr battery I got back in 18'. BMS fail, sensing wires coming loose and nickel tabs breaking off and that was a pack in an enclosed plastic case specifically made for them.

Really amazing to see what actually goes into building a battery. Thank you for posting. 👍 👍👍👍👍

What's the verdict on the Frey CC vs Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra FS Pro. They seem comparable? I had a CC and kinda wish I hadn't sold it!

I keep waiting for @roshan to send me an evaluation model Biktrix Swift commuter, but it never comes. IMO it’s one of his nicest builds. We’ve been communicating now for nearly 8 years. He’s grown a good business and is honest and reliable. Maybe he lost my address?

Just curious if there is a FS step through available with throttle and 3 inch or less tires?
