Fork replacement

I have the BH Easy Motion Evo Cross Pro 2018. It comes with a low end suntour fork that weighs 5.7lbs. Was thinking about replacing with a light weight fork, maybe even rigid. Has anyone done this? Is carbon a bad idea?

Most rigid forks will be shorter than a suspension fork, and likely drop the front of the bike 2-3 inches. That won't work well.

Otherwise, it's not hard to change forks if you have some mechanical ability. It's documented pretty thoroughly with youtube tutorials.

Let's see, I've gone the other way and put suspension forks in place of rigid forks, raising the front of the bikes about 3" and changing the handling a bit, making the kickstand too short, and even making the frame feel too tall. All that for a softer ride.

Ive seen suspension corrected rigid forks that are the same size. was hoping to shed like 4lbs by doing this.

Out of curiosity, how does 4lbs help eBike performance. Next, having gone through the gyrations of finding a Suspension Corrected fork, it was difficult finding the needed correction and several tries simply changed steering characteristics. That’s limited experience. But I went back to OEM, never adapting to the change. I’d speak with Easy Motion.

4 lbs doesn't help eBike performance at all. There are times when I use this bike without the motor on when I am out to get more of a workout, as well might help when im loading the bike on my car rack(I also take the battery out when i do this). I thought about just getting a second bike(non electric) for this but most of the time I switch when Im out already between pedal assist and just pedaling. Although the 4lbs probable doesn't make a difference when I'm just pedaling since its a 55lb bike.
I did reach out to Easy Motion asking them for geometry of the fork and was told by support that he doesn't have that info, which is odd. Easy Motion suggested I youtube it lol.
Don't get me wrong Easy Motion has been very responsive with any questions I have had and love the 5 year warranty. The bike is also a pleasure to ride.

I ran into the same issue. My persistence paid off and I eventually DID find a fellow that sorted the geometry and suggested a fit. At the last minute I decided to change my plan when I ran into a original NOS (new old stock) 12 year old suspension fork that had been used on the bare frame I purchased sans fork. I'm not very fit and don't use my bike for exercise beyond clown pedaling. I use my trainer and cardiac workout for exercise. Good hunting!

Best thing I did was swap out the cheap air fork for a rigid. Much better stability and saved 4 lbs off the front end.
