FINALLY Getting My PearTune MSO Chips Today & Tomorrow

This has been a pretty long saga trying to get these! I ordered them through the manufacturer on eBay (user jery9871) as it is really difficult to find a source of tuning chips which will ship to the U.S.

ebiketuning.com has many tuning options, but they specify on their web site: " We ship to all countries in the world except to the USA, Canada and Channel Islands. "

Anyway, my first eBay order was made on 4/24/20, and ultimately was completely lost in the postal system (either Czech or U.S. end). Working with the vendor we ultimately came to an agreement that I would pay half for FedEx shipping to replace the lost order. Well worth the extra $19 to me. They will finally arrive today! :)

Second order through eBay was made before the first one was found to be lost. Ordered 5/6/20, and nothing showed up as progress in the tracking system until hit in New York customs about a month later. These are now at a USPS distribution center about an hour South of my home, and I should get them tomorrow.

eBay seller jery9871 has been pretty diligent in working with me to get my products. There was a 10 day delay in the process as they initiated a postal investigation from the Czech side, and we had to wait 10 days for the investigation to be completed. I never felt as though I would be out of the money I paid, and the seller did diligently get the orders shipped soon after they were made. I think that we are just dealing with COVID impacts on the normal mail operations.

Morale of the story: If you find the tuning chips you want on eBay, and are having them shipped to the U.S., I highly recommend paying the upcharge for express shipping!

I have also generated a bit of a rapport with the eBay seller, and as of today I have also purchased a Shimano (all others were for Bosch system) chip directly from them. They offered the Shimano chip at only a $6 premium over the listed eBay price, including FedEx shipping. Only issue with their Shimano chip is that it halves the speed above 20 mph (or maybe kph), whereas their Bosch chips show accurate speed (and therefore mileage, average speed, max speed, etc.) even above the previous motor cut-off speed.

Great to have a good rapport with overseas shippers here in the US. I also ordered a U-Lock from a company in the UK, had some difficulty with shipment, so they went ahead and upgraded from standard shipping to FedEx with tracking at no charge. Received the order within approx 10 days her in the US. No complaints after dealing with them.

BTW- Got the first PearTune modules today, and they are awesome! Installed them on our his-n-hers Haibike Trekking 7.0's and what a difference they make.

Not that I'm trying to cruise around at 30mph, but just the fact that we don't start getting cut-off happening at 19.2. We've got some rolling hills on our normal riding route, and being able to take advantage of motor power towards the bottom of one smaller hill allows one to attack the beginning of the next, larger hill with more speed. I looked down and was still near 23 mph topping that larger hill, where I have normally dropped down to the 18mph range pre-chip.

Glad it's working out so far!

I bought a helmet from Germany that DHL/USPS lost track of a while back and am still waiting for the investigation to play out. My vendor says the investigations are taking up to 3 weeks and they won't ship a replacement until DHL finishes up. Hopefully I can convince them to switch to FedEx for the replacement.

Bummer. I've had great luck with DHL from both Asia and Europe - but never with a USPS hand-off.

In this particular case I thought that the FedEx shipment would come a day late based on its status this morning. But it came today as scheduled, only 10 minutes after its specified "by noon" delivery time.

Fortunately in my case the Czech Postal Service only demanded 10 days to complete their internal investigation before the seller shipped a replacement set.

Unlocking the power in these motors is an incredible burst in speed and performance. Totally agree, that it is so useful to have the power there when you need it. Breaking through the cut-off wall pays back with these devices 10-fold IMHO. Ride safe!

PearTune installed on my Haibike Full FatSix, Yamaha PW drive in October 2020 and absolutely no problems. I ride in standard tuning most of the time, but every now and then, it's nice to press the controller button and be able to get above motor cut off at 19 some odd miles per hour.

And Katerina at PearTune was a great pleasure to deal with. If only all bike supply and bike manufacturer vendors were as nice as her.
