This looks like a good affordable ebike rack. Has anyone tried this?
From the options down under the 100lb/45 kg rating is impressive. I have only found racks with a 30kg rating here.This looks like a good affordable ebike rack. Has anyone tried this?
Or maybe a BuzzRack e-Scorpion H2 without wheels?It looks like a vague copy of a Thule Easy Fold. If it’s any good that’s a great price.
I also went with a Hollywood rack and very happy with the product for all the reasons that McApple shared. I too am routinely carrying two ebikes. The engineering that went into the rack is impressive.It appears to be a fairly close copy of a Hollywood rack, at half the price; apparently the cracking, and in some cases, the catastrophic failure of welds is the reason for the recall.
We have had the Hollywood mounted to our vehicle since July, we use it to carry our two, 65+ pound bikes. To date, we have been very happy with the performance; some of the reasons:
- The ramp makes loading/unloading a breeze;
- The tightening mechanism of the rack to the 2" receiver eliminates wobble, vibration, and chatter;
- The rack locks to the receiver, and the support arms which attach to the bike are lockable with the same key;
- When not being used, the rack can be folded vertically, greatly reducing its extension behind the vehicle;
- the rack can be pivoted, while loaded, to allow access to vehicles with a rear-hatch, like our Subaru Outback;
- The support arm, and the three straps which hold the bike wheels to the rack, do an excellent job of securing the bikes, allowing minimal movement.
The rack is pricey, in the range of a Thule, but its 150-pound (68-kg) load rating, ease of use, and secure attachment are worth it for us.
Oh, and it also handles wide tires, we had to retire our old platform rack when I purchased my Bulls Step-thru this year.
