Howdy folks, I'm thinking of doing something a little different with my ebike testing. I'd like to purchase three or four ebikes of the same type, and then review, test, and compare them much like Car and Driver or other magazines do. The testing would include acceleration, braking, range, and actual use. Let me know in the comments if you all think this would be appealing to you.

I also need your help, which "type" of ebike should I start with? Please answer the poll and the winning type will be the first tested.

If you think I should add a category to the poll, let me know in the comments! I wanted to pick categories that are common and have high interest without costing a ton of money (I'd love to compare high end bikes like Stromer vs. Riese and Muller later on).

Once a type is chosen, I'll start another poll to pick which three or four bikes to purchase and test. Thanks everyone!

Timpo: Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep those in mind once I start doing videos. I seek the type of review that I wanted when I purchased my Metro+, a straight comparison of the performance and range from an independent source of several ebikes of the same type. That's the type of review I used when purchasing my last car and my last motorcycle.

I too prefer like to like comparing. I am looking for a retirement present to myself, almost no budget. Nothing against Juiced but they aren’t my market....R&M vs Haibike vs Trek Allante vs Stromer etc. not everybody is looking for top of the line but I these are my choices to compare. I would be interested how a Juiced would compare but i don’t think I would be as interested in just Juiced vs 1 of the others nearly as much.

all my opinion which my wife tells me is always wrong...

Opimax, I do like the idea of comparing a Juiced CCX to a Stromer or one of the other high end bikes. The differences may really show up as mileage accumulates. Thanks!

This will be interesting. Kinda like a consumer survey where consumers are asked what kind of bike they are interested in purchasing. Oh wait, maybe this is one of those? You could use the results to get a feel for where the market is heading next maybe?

Myself, with comparisons of multiple bikes, safe bet there will be winners and loosers established. The problem I see is the looser, when compared to a different field of bikes, could turn out to be the winner. Just like the winner could turn out to be a turd when grouped with nicer bikes. Point being, some nice bikes may be left with undeserved tainted info associated with them.

Kinda like the Lamborghini vs. Ferrari test Timpo mentions, how in the world could either of those cars be a looser? Is there any one of us that would turn their nose up at either given the chance to drive one for a year?

Bottom line, I like the detailed individual reports that are heavy on data and impressions experienced by the tester, with an absolute minimum of manf. supplied data that reads like an infomercial. Or, if that kind of info must be included, at least verify some of it. -Al

Heck... I'd agree to being able to just park it in the driveway for a year! Even if I was the one who had to wash it.

Except Gocycle And Evelo , all others on your list are cheap , crappy and low powered ebikes.

Sure many people bought them And will continue to do so.
Just ask around for a loaner. Haibike, Bulls, BH EaSy motion, Maybe a Stromer that DOES NOT BREAK every other ride !, Optibike, M1 Spitzing, Evelo, BESV , R&M, Gocycle, Gazelle, those are reliable ebikes to do videos about.
I doubt anyone will loan you a M1Spitzing for
Testing but for the others you may get help...

I have a feeling that sales numbers of cheap bikes - under 2K - are comparable to those over 5K. On global scale the former probably beat the latter. Some of them are high-powered (as much as ebike class allows before it becomes a motorcycle), though most have motors in 250-500W range.

OTH, what people buy has little to do with YT clip popularity, on any item.

The volume of 2k ebikes should be much higher then the 5k ebikes sales.
If not , it means that a whole lot of people are buying 5k ebikes.

most Sold ebikes in Us:

Pedego, radpower, juiced, magnum

But ” Most sold” doesn’t mean highest quality.
