EasyMotion Evo Street won't turn on

Hello everyone! long time lurker, first time poster :)

I have a 2017/2018 Evo Street, pretty sure it's this one: https://bike.motocard.com/en/city/bh-evo_street_26_2017_black_white.aspx. It's a few years old, but I got it used so this is my first winter with it. A month ago when it started getting cold I took the battery out and put it in the basement, but today we had a lovely warm day so I put the battery in to go for a ride and found that the bike computer won't turn on.

So far I've tried:
- Charging the battery for an hour or so (all the LEDs light up so it looks like it's fully charged)
- Long-pressing the button on the batter (again, all the LEDs light up)
- Cleaning the connectors with rubbing alcohol (interesting note: the controller did flash and seem to be starting up after doing this, but then it quickly shut down again, cruelly dashing my hopes)
- Making sure all the wires are connected (they all look good)
- Reseating the battery
- Giving the battery a polite nudge with my foot

Any further tips on troubleshooting this? Everything was working perfectly when I put it away just a month ago. Luckily for me, the bike store it came from (Crazy Lenny's) is in town, but I don't have a car and I'm not exactly enthused about biking a non-functioning e-bike for an hour to their store.
 
- connect the charger to the ebike frame port (with bat. installed) and power it on ; If LCD turns on, use the throttle (make sure you lift the rear wheel while doing it) a few times ( this is while the charger is still plugged) ;

- try also to unplug/plug back motor cable ;

From what i know the bat., goes into a deep sleep mode after some time( i can look it up online to refresh my internal hard drive...) and u already did the "long press" .

If it is still not powering on, i would open the cover where the controller is, unplug all the wires, plug back.

There is also an issue , where , if an ebike is left (the tires directly touching/resting) on a highly conductive surface aka sand , like @ beach, it refuses to start. That i am researching on why exactly it happens . I had to do a multitude of battery resets to get mine back ON. You can try that also .

Btw., I have the BH Nitro City EVO
 
Okay update! I've tried connecting the charger to the ebike port and powering it on. LCD did not turn on.
Also unplugged and replugged all the plugs I could find.
I'm not too confident in opening the cover, may have to leave that to a tech if I bring it in.

The bike was in our unheated garage with a concrete floor and the battery in the basement in a wooden cabinet, so I don't think it should have been conductive. That's good to know for the future though!

How does one do a battery reset?

I also did run across this Youtube video on e-bikes not working after being out in the cold (long story short if there is a secondary small battery on the power button/LCD, that may have been drained, but am not sure if it applies to EasyMotion.) Everything but the battery was certainly outside and it's been a low of 10F some nights so far, so it's not unbelievable.

Not the battery cover ! There is another cover once you take the battery out on top , the all the way on top underneath and inside the downtube there is a that's where the controller is and the cover hd four screws and just take that the cover off and that's how you access the controller that's very easy to do , just unplug the cables and plug them back.

- For the display I'm not sure if you have the big display in the center , That is connected to a smaller display on the left side and the small display can be taken off also ; you have to unscrew 2 screws underneath , that is explained the manual; It doesn't say if that smaller button on the left side with the power button and plus/minus has any battery inside, I don't think it does.

The problem is not with the battery, I think that having the ebike on the concrete floor affected the the chips inside the LCD display or the ones in the controller.
I would disconnect the display and that little power button on left side completely and also unplug/plug back all wires from the controller;

- And one more step I would do : apply Dielectric grease on all the connectors : motor cable and all the connectors in front , everything.

 
IT TURNED ON!

1) Thank you for your help Ebiker01, I appreciate you going into detail for a worried noob

2) I have no idea why it started working again. We had a cold snap for a week, so today was the first day I could get it out and fiddle without freezing my fingers off. I had already unplugged and re-plugged all the connectors I could get to last time, so I wasn't holding out much hope. I took the cover off the top, and it turns out that the controller isn't in there for the Evo Street, it's just wires going down. The controller is probably behind or at the bottom of the battery.

The LCD display didn't seem like it had a battery either. I took it off and put it back on just in case, then unplugged and replugged everything again.

Didn't have any dielectric grease, so I rubbed the connectors, reset the battery a couple times, stuck the battery back in, and tried it out without much hope... and it turned on! The only difference between today and the last time was that last week was extremely humid (lots of condensation on the bike), and this week wasn't. I was also in the garage last time and on grass this time, plus it took me a little bit to find the right screw head for the cover so the battery had some time to cool down to outside temps.

In summary, it works, beats me how or why, but I won't question my good fortune.

Wow, i'm hapy for u. I know what a hassle it can be. I know how to take mine apart in all the smaller pieces and bits 😀.
I had this misfortune when I was leaving it on the sand for a few hours , so I think it is a connection with this thing with the temperature or conductivity somehow ...
 
That's the old display (they r prone to problems) the newer displays are much better but almost impossible to find now. Your ebike would also work with the new display.

That's interesting I have the controller right there in the top hole and on the bottom i had opened the cover and actually put an AirTag in there ; so you can do that too for safety. I have 3 Airtags on her in diff. places.

That's actually a pretty brilliant idea! I might try doing that with a Tile. How long does the battery last on your Airtags? I didn't think they had a very large range either, like 100ft or something.

I'm a bit envious of your bike having a top-tube. Mine is a step-through and I've found that the weight of the motor hub on the back makes the whole bike somewhat wobbly.
