"Early June" Radrover shipments

My two Radrover boxes were beat to hell with a large 2 foot tear on the side of the box for my bike. Both boxes looked like they were dragged on a dirty warehouse floor for fun and chucked out of the back of a truck. The rear derailleur on my bike was bent so much the chain would rub against the tire in 1st-3rd gear (so far, bending it back has fixed it for now). The front disk brake on my bike was bent and it took some effort to bent it true. My left pedal crank arm fell off after a few days of riding and I could only get it to stay on for 1-2 miles no matter how much Loctite and TQ I applied. I lost the crank bolt during the ride and arm eventually fell off about 4 miles from home. So glad the Radrover had a throttle to get me home (hard to peddle using PAS with only one crank). Rad Power Bikes did send me a new crank arm+bolt and that has stayed put after 2 months and +300 miles.

The wife's Radrover shipping box was in a little better condition and she didn't have the mechanical issue I've had with my bike. I didn't notice any big cosmetic issues I couldn't live with. At $320 for shipping for two bikes, you would expect a little more protection of the product.

I can only imagine how beat-up the Radrover would have been if I lived on the east coast instead of the southwest.

Just wondering mrgold how tall your wife is and if she is comfortable on her Radrover ??

@vincent

I still have all the boxes from my ebike orders (Rad Power Bikes, Sondors and ELux). If I have time I will post some after UPS comparison pictures of each.

You can see how well Sondors are packaged by viewing Court's EBR YouTube review of the Sondors THIN. Not only is the box strong but the bike is packaged very well in the box. Both the Thin and Fat are equally well packaged.

There are many examples of the Sondors packaging on YouTube. Search on "Sondors ebike unboxing"

MarkP. Since you have a variety of ebikes ( nice stable ) do you have a favorite or ride one more than the others ???

imo the rover is a big bike

i am 5'6" and can ride it but it is too big for me
that being said have a couple of friends that ride with me that are 5'5" and even though the height of the top tube sucks it is their favorite bike to ride

and it is my favorite bike
it free rolls great and is very comfortable with a suspension seat post

i did pick up a chinese fat bike at interbike that i have only gotten to ride a little, the frame size is way better on that one for me and i love that
but it does not free roll well, researching on that and working on it in my spare time - which i dont have much of

point is if i could find a smaller frame rover i would buy it in a second

i put in my 2 cents to rad on a step through rover for their next bike, we will see what happens....

so imo the rover is big and if possible test one first if you are a woman/or 5"8" or shorter....

i am in az and you are welcome to test mine if somewhere close

hope some of this info helps

I'm 6'3", 265 lbs and she is 4'11", 130 lbs. The Radrover is a little too tall for her to stand over at a stop. I added the same Sunlite 12.5 X 11.5 Cloud-9 cruiser seat and that extra length moves her up the drop tube for stand over height. She has to do the lean to one side or stop at a curb thing. I have her seat as low as it can go on her bike (I was unable to add a suspension seat post or Radrover rear fender because her seat is too low).

She has to plan her stops on level ground or down hills. A little harder for her to get the bike going if she is on an incline. She A-OK once she gets the bike going and she feel very comfortable at all speeds. I can't keep up with her at PAS 5 because I have to push around about +130 lbs of extra weight.

We would have liked to have the option of a small, med, and large frame size with the Radrover. Since both our bikes are the same size, I just need to raise/lower the seat if we need to switch bikes. I switch off bikes weekly for my +60 miles a week work commute to keep the mileage and wear/tear the same on both bikes.

Tom,
Overall I like the E-Lux the best. I ride the ELux to work on Saturdays (pavement all the way). I ride the Rover when I ride at the farm and camp ground with my niece and nephew. We also ride in the Conecuh National Forest with the Rover.

Ride the Sondors Thin all around town mostly on flat services. We all love and ride the Sondors Fat.

I end up riding the Rover the most. Much more powerful and better y range than the Sondors . The ELux is a powerful bike too and very comfortable.

My niece and nephew enjoy all of them!!

Shoot!!!! I like them all!

Boy Vincent, I would LOVE to come take it for a ride !! Unfortunately , I'm in the frozen tundra in Indiana !!! Snow on the ground and below zero nights and single digit days this week.

I know, I could tell my wife I'm going to go test ride a ebike and I'll be back in a few days !!! LOL

Don't think I better do that. The camper is put away for the winter so I would not have any place to sleep. Thanks any way.

lol

when i was wanting to test ride a mini before i bought one rad said to check their facebook page and see if i could find someone close to test ride

maybe you could try that

too bad though it is 70 degrees and sunny here lol

I'm waiting for someone in Sacramento to hit me up for a test ride! I thought that was a great idea!
