I've only lost one in many years of flying - A DJI Inspire 1 (thankfully purchased at a low cost as a refurb).

Ended up being due to a 'cheap' Chinese knock-off battery which failed mid-flight. A friend watching the flight said to me "I think I saw something fall straight down over there." Probably from about ~150 feet altitude when the image on my transmitter just froze. Buying cr@p batteries ended up not being a cost saving after all!

I just picked up a used DJI Mini 2 off Facebook Marketplace at a bargain price. Because weight is under 250g, no Federal Part 107 license is required. I’m really impressed with this mini drone. I’ve never flown anything before, yet I was able to not only fly it, but also take decent well stabilized video on my first flight, even without a micro SD card on board the drone yet.
