Do I have my Range Extender installed correctly?

Here’s a random thought… does that bottle cage they supply have specific holes for the mounting screw or the often used three quarter inch or so slot so you can slide the thing up or down while mounting, and if so, is it positioned a little on the high side? Loosen the screws and see what happens?

I have a new Range Extender battery and cable. Haven't used it yet but testing out how it fits on the bike. Am I doing this correctly? Reason I ask is because the cable seems extremely taut, as if it is almost a few mm too short. Is there another way to have the battery sit in the cage that doesn't put so much strain on the cable and connections? The diagram in the user manual makes it look like there is quite a bit more slack.

I came back from one ride and it was missing, it may have snapped or just come off because I didn’t put it on all the way.

Just so happens I have both Levo and Creo cables and picked up a 2nd Hand RE and came with the Levo cable. Has you see, with the Levo cable attached, I can plug in the RE in the normal bottle cage position

@eddief Why would Specialized change the distance between the charge port and seat tube bottle mounts? Seems the logical design would be keep them at the same distance, thus allowing more room above the mounts on larger frames?

@Burning Matches Rotate the RE in the bottle mount so the cable is closer. With it in the position you choose the cable will be stretched further than if the RE is rotated clockwise to the other end of the rear notch. That should get you the couple of millimeters you desire.

On second thought you might be correct about the mount being the same distance from charge port regardless of size of bike.

There’s also the possibility of individual unit variance during construction of the frame, as well as unit variance in the cable length.

I have a 2022 Creo 1 Comp and two range extenders. I finally took the extender cage off and installed a side load cage.
The band goes around extender and cage. Holds it just fine. Extender is simple to put in and out with the side loader. The top is not fully plugged in, just finished charging.
