Display Screen Question

I know this is a bit of a dumb question.... But, Has anyone had issues viewing their Display Screen? I wear prescription glasses and sunglasses - On a sunny day while I have on my sunglasses the display screen is almost completely dark... if not totally. I tried to move it into different positions, all with the same results. Does anyone know of a Film or Cover that would be available to put over the display to prevent this from happening?? thanks.

Can you tweak screen brightness? I went into my settings after I got my bike and set everything for minimum power consumption. Then I could not read the screen unless I was in deep shade, so I kicked it up to almost max. No bigger than the screen is I probably lost a city block of range.

I don't know of a film, I don't know if your display has contrast settings that might help, otherwise as suggested crank the brightness up.

I use prescription sunglasses when I ride also. When I stop I'll take a look at the display screen with the glasses down just to see what's happening. Cuz I don't really need to look at it constantly.

However it is the reason why I'm getting rid of my karoo2. I can see my phone screen just fine, but the karoo screen is too dark.

I know there is a brightness setting, not 100% on a contrast setting though... I'll need to review it and let you know.

I have the same problem. In my case, it's due to my prescription sunglasses which have polarized lenses. Does the screen get any easier to see when you tilt your head from side to side? If so, you may need non polarized sunglasses.

My optometrist says the lab they use can't make non polarized tinted lenses. I now use fit over sunglasses which I wear on top of my regular glasses. They are easily removed in shady areas if necessary. They also offer more protection from bugs & other airborne debris.

They do scratch easily but they're fairly cheap so I keep a couple of pairs around.

My Aventon display screen appears blacked out when viewed with my polarized sunglasses. Someone on one of the Aventon FB groups recommended this screen protector, and it indeed does work to make the screen visible. The product description makes no claims that it solves that problem, but you can see in the user review comments that lots of people are using it successfully for the same purpose. I don't know the physics involved but I don't think there's anything special about this particular screen protector. I have an inexpensive bike computer that came with a thin plastic protector film and it too solves the same problem.

In my case, I had to find a company that made non-polarized sunglasses.

Not where I can grab a picture of it right now... I will snap a few tomorrow and post them.
I have a few Pictures to share of my display screen... let me know what you think

I have an Aventon Level 2 and experience the same thing with my prescription sunglasses w polarization. I ordered the screen protector. Hopefully it fits the Level display. I may have noticed I was a 1% battery level last week with the protector!

What a great idea... I am going to give this a try.

My wife said she has a pair of "fit over sunglasses" that she wears when she goes to the eye doctor. I will try them to see how they work...

danielrhall,
I tried your suggestion today... and it worked, I don't really understand how, but it did. I went to a store called 5 & below. So just about is below 5 bucks. Anyway, they had generic screen protectors for cheap. So I picked one up and cut it down to size and Bam! I can see the screen again when wearing my sunglasses... Thanks for the suggestion. I also tried the suggestion from '6zfshdb" about wearing Fit Over Sunglasses, which also did the trick.
