Your bike and/or it's components were probably made in Taiwan or China. Yes there are custom frame makers and there are some components made in other countries, but the vast majority of all bikes are made in those two countries. Brand names are just that.....marketing tools. Here's a good place to start research:

It doesn't mean the bikes are of low quality, because the factories are capable of making very high quality frames and components. It's just the state of the industry and the reality of cost/price control.
