Today was the first day of the D.E.B.E and man was it fun! I had a few trouble with my Fatbike that caused me to end up driving there, but that worked out okay, because I got to be @Court Rye and Pete Prebus who are like ebike internet stars, lol. Anyways I got a chance to test out a few bikes, but my wife ended up falling off on because the throttle engaged as she was getting off and we had to leave early. I did have a chance to talk about bike infrastructure and some of what's happening around the US and World with regards to cars and bikes. It was a great convo that you can't really get with the average person not interested in bicycle news and infrastructure.

Hope your wife wasn't hurt too badly, @Kaldeem. At least she demo'd one of the issues with throttle assist that's occasionally mentioned but perhaps not as much as it should be. I remember being surprised by this when first riding one of the BH EM bikes with a twist throttle. It's one thing to know the possibility exists...but when you aren't conscious what your hands are doing on the grips when e.g. mounting/dismounting from the bike, you can be surprised.

The Electric Bike Expo has made it to Denver Colorado and will continue Saturday June 18th from 9am to 7pm and Sunday June 19th from 9am to 4pm. The event is free and anyone can register to attend by visiting: http://www.electricbike-expo.com/

In this video I speak with one of the event organizers, Pete Prebus, from ElectricBikeReport.com and visit a few of the vendor booths including Haibike, Lectric Cycles, Easy Motion, IZIP and BESV. I also had the opportunity to interview a few attendees and ask them about the bikes and the course. This is only the half way of the Expo and more cities will be visited as the year goes on so check out their website and if you live in Denver drop by this weekend! What bikes did you try? Curious to hear about your thoughts...

I tried all the Stromers, some Raleigh's and Kalkofes and Easy Motions 2016 650b. It's a great event, everyone was cool and getting a chance to ride every type of ebike in succession is nice for comparison. The DI2 electronic shifting is a game changer. On the St2s and one of the Raleigh Misceo iE, I mean words can't describe the smoothness, and flow that they bring to shifting gears. A lot of the problem with eBikes right now is meshing of gears and with shift sensing devices like e-rad kits are solving that problem, but not in comparison to what the Di2 brings to the table. By far the 3 best bikes I tried Friday and Saturday were the St2s, Misceo iE, and the 27.5 EM.

Iam going again on Sunday night though. I'm going to try some folding bikes, and some other brands like BESV and TEMPO, because I haven't tried any of their bikes yet.

No she wasn't hurt bad, just bruised her hand and scraped up her knee a bit. She did enjoy riding the EM city, but I don't think she's quite sold on them just yet. All in good time. lol
