David brand new FX BMX handle bar diameter?

I am looking at getting this kit for my Lectric XP 3.0 and want to make sure the existing grips, etc will fit the new BMX bar he provides. I have scoured his site, but the diameter of the handle bars cant be found. The rise is 9" though. I have read where I may need to shim the display clamp as the cross bar is smaller. Or are there BMX bars out there with the larger cross tube that will work with his FX stem that match the diameter of the Lecrtic handle bars

Thanks for any help

The grips and everything will swap right over. I had those bars on my XP 3.0 with no issues. The cross bar needs the little shims that etsy sells. I have no idea why David doesn't include them with his conversions. Anywasy, go to vendor EbikeBetter on etsy and look for M5 display handlebar spacers for $5.24 on sale, $6.99 after sale ends. They come as a set of 2 when you order them. The spacers work great.

Does the bike handle better with the conversion?

I had the longer stem version, then I was dumb and added different bars. It (bar conversion) works as advertised. I did a review somewhere on this site I think. I pulled the conversion when I gave my XP 3.0 to a co-worker and put the stock bar setup back on. I then gave away the DavidBrandNew stem to a member here and ordered the shorty turtle neck instead. It's still in my garage in the box though.

But yes, the conversation gets rid of the weird giraffe stem flex and makes the XP handle more sure footed.

Only problem now it appears for some reason he let his web site expire https://www.davidbrandnew.com/ so back to square one. I wish I could fine a straight stem neck of the same height as the OEM slanted one that will take the stock handle bars.

That is weird about the website. I recently ordered form him for a pre-order and got my shorty conversion kit. I even told him no hurry and I trusted him. I've briefly conversed with him via email and everything seemed normal with him. Under the Lectric brand page I did a how-to on how to bypass the DavidBrandNew assembly. You'll loose the folding but it worked pretty good.

I had the same problem you had. The stock giraffe stem was a bit to far in the stock position and when I flipped it, a tad to close. I think I got the mid-height FX stem and it was to tall with my GT bars, but when I compared the bars (GT against Davids bars) they seemed very close in height. I'm currently rearranging the garage because it has become a black hole but I'll post up pictures of the shorty stem when I find it. Amazon had it listed at one time but I no longer mess with Amazon. But if you don't mind loosing the folding I showed how its done. Feel free to ask questions.

Unfortunately I need the ability to fold. or quick release handle bar someway. It needs to fit in a tote for travel. Long story, but I can't add a rear carrier to my 5th wheel, so it hast to go in the trailer or flat in the truck bed so my rolling bed topper can close for weather or security.

Oh I know what you mean. I hated the idea of loosing the folding ability on the XP. I'm still looking for that turtle neck stem from DavidBrandNew that I purchased. I had intentions of putting it on my Xpedition but I don't mind the giraffe stem on that ebike at all, plus I managed to fit all my junk on the bars and don't feel like swapping it all over.
