Damn Rear Sprocket Wobble

I'm the guy that just converted my Specialized Crosstrail to an ebike. I was having trouble getting my rear derailleur exactly dialed in after disconnecting the cable to feed it thru the gear sensor. I don't have a bike stand but figured out a way to make a simple stand today. So when spinning up the rear wheel there is a pronounced wobble in the sprockets. It's kinda noisy too. I figure it's a rear hub. My bike shop says rebuilding the hub isn't always worth it because the innards might be thrashed so they suggest just installing a new hub and wheel. It might be $150. yeouch!!!!
I know this is more bike than ebike related but what do you guys think? That 1000 watt mid drive can and does acheive high speeds so a new assembly would be peace of mind.

Open it up and check if it's damaged. It will be evident. Look for grooves worn into body. Also, metal shavings are a good clue.

I'd replace it. You may get 2 miles out and the extra torque may trash it.

After diagnosis I think my rear hub has bad cones, bearings etc. so I took it in to the shop.
