Damaged rear hub motor casing

Hi,

my x35 rear hub motor casing has broken where a spoke was seated and now I can’t use my Ribble SLe and am gutted.
I have contacted Ribble but they have still to get back to me.
The bike has only done 2k miles and never been in crash or dropped. I am at a loss to know why this has happened other than a defect.

Hi - EXACTLY the same thing has happened to my bike this morning - have emailed Ribble pictures (as shown)and awaith their reply.....how long did it take for Ribble to respond and replace your wheel @Harryfernagh ?

My hub was damaged on the 17 June and I received a replacement wheel on the 03 July.
Customer service was excellent especially given the COVID issues.
Hope you get sorted soon
 
I don't understand how one spoke missing prevents anyone from bike being used.
This was never a reason the previous 100 years.
Regardless a motorcycle. I've had spokes break from hub on motorcycle,
and the spoke swings out and strikes the frame, shooting the spoke straight thru
inner tube and tire like a gun shot.
Had the spoke simply been safety wired secure to a cross over spoke or zip tied,
the day would have gone on unscathed.
Now forced to walk.
Had I Noticed, with test, surely would have been placed secure.
Now and then - with maybe using app on phone calendar, take a long bladed screw
driver and simply tap the spokes to see if they play the same tune -
Takes maybe 13.5 seconds, and proves every spoke is playing fare.
If one goes thud instead,,
he's trying to tell you he doesn't feel up to it... Set a date for preflight inspection every
15 days if used daily, or what ever works.
If hard impact of hitting a curb head on, or chuck hole,, might be good to check when stopped.
If in Minnesota,, You know darn well it was a chuck hole. You just spent $3500 replacing
damaged tires & suspension on the car deliberately hitting every chuck hole the last six months.

Highly suspect this will be common to solid rigid suspension, and air pressure a bit hard,
vs swing arm, with shock absorber.

Granted the casting looks very poor quality..

I'm noticing an issue with spoke across from broken spoke casting.
The head of spoke is not seated square in the hole, and looks tweaked at it's bend
to not able to seat squarely.
So this should be tested, but would make me look 180 degrees from point of this spoke to face of rim
that may show impact impression. Or the spokes were the wrong spec for this hub.
Putting too much stress at edge of spoke hole at point of bend in spoke.
Removing this spoke will surely show stress worn deep into face of hub.
