Current state of supply for 2021 bikes?

I was considering a 2021 Giant Stance E+1. I called a bike shop yesterday and got a delivery estimate of October. October! I know bikes have been selling like crazy, and I know there have been supply problems. Is this the status with most manufacturers? I'm asking here in hopes of saving some time, since I know a lot of you are up on everything.

What I will be looking for is a 29er full suspension eMTB for my lady, and maybe another one for me. Long story...

Best bet is go on Giants site and look up the bike you want and search the size you want. I found a Stance E+2 a few months back and made an 8hr drive to pick it up. Otherwise I was waiting until the middle of summer for the bike.

I’m sure glad I pre-ordered my wife’s Trek Allant+7 Lowstep late last summer. Sounds like things are definitely going to get tighter before they loosen up.

Hello Stefan, it is a good point and there is a Trance X E+ Pro 29 3 about a 10-hour drive away. But what I'm after is the more relaxed geometry of the Stance (though I'd prefer the Fox suspension of course). I still have the FullSeven so it's not an emergency. Though I DO really need to find my girl a bike...

I've been out of the loop and was expecting the ebike supply situation to be better than the pedal bike ancestors due to the higher price levels...

Not the case for all but some manufacturers are more behind than others due to them canceling orders when the pandemic began in January 2020 effectively doubling their own delays. Of course many other issues related to COVID, factory shutdowns, lack of shipping containers etc.

Your best bet is to broaden your search to 3-5 different ebikes from 3-5 different brands you would be happy with all from different companies.

Make inquests to these different brands/LBS about purchasing a specific ebike like you did with Giant about the etrance and you will likely get different dates as to when that particular ebike would be back in stock for you to purchase. Some might be in May, others July or August or even October like the giant etrance.
