I don't think Karl would accept a bike for level ground only. He's as hard core as they come.

Obsolete in that context is very click-baity. I know if most ebike owners were given access to multiple rides, they wouldn't settle for the same bike on different trails - they all have their area of specialty, so Karl enjoys this beast on his trails. I get that. But to say that he's going to ride THAT bike for another 3+ months and ignore the rest of his fleet is just not gonna happen. For winter riding in snow, its an amazing piece of hardware. I give it two months and we'll have another 'this is my latest monster' ebike that he gets to muddy up. Gets kinda boring it you can't offer up articles that hardcore riders want and look forward to every month.

Sounds like you should ignore Karl's site. I enjoy his over the top approach.

I knew you would take my post as inflammatory. I tried to word it so it wasn't a negative, but it is just IMO too much to call his other rides 'obsolete'. And to be honest, I have removed the bookmark I had on his site when it became clear that he would never be interested in a class 1, and to me when (not if) the eventual ebike laws are tightened down to quite possibly eliminate any class 2 or 3s on most trails, you had better have a place to ride. I know I am about as safe as I can be on my class 1.

I didn't take it as inflammatory at all. Karl has his own hyperbolic style that might rub some people the wrong way. No, he won't review some 250 watt bike because he has no interest in that setup. He's over the top like most of his builds.

Been a two year subscriber to Karl's website. I always loved his fat bike builds. If anyone is going to find a weak spot in some ebike drive system, Karl is the man to do it. I want to believe his flogging of equipment has helped advance an outfit like Luna into building tougher and better drive trains, controllers, batteries and front sprockets that can be deemed "Karl-Proof".

I love the thought and engineering behind this bike, both in it's original "analog" version and now, this Bafang-driven version. And the really cool thing is, is that it's built in nearby Pennsylvania.

Thanks for posting this.......I sure would love to see Court do one of his in-depth reviews of the Christini AWD fatty!
