Charge Smartphone vis display

only option would be to get a splitter cable for the front light, if this one is at 12V in the system. Get the Watts on this port maxxed out by a dealer and use one part of this splitter to power the frontligth, the second to power a 12v outdoor socket (motor bike/atv socket) so you could use a car plug usb charging device. I've seen these mods on a few bikes.

basicly this set:

this used for a cargo bike, for the front light and the light in the headbadge on the front of the box.

with JST connectors so that is easier to deal with.

are you sure that is save . I thought about it , but together with a mechanic ( bicycle ) after he had called to his familiar electric , we decided do not do that .

It's used all the time for auxiliary lighting and the like. Bosch allows the diagnostic tool to limit current on the lighting output to safe levels.

I had the same issue and found the display only outputs power with the original cable. The non-original ones look right but don’t trigger the charging pins, so they stay dead.

It does not limit the current. Not sure why that is so hard to understand.
The Gen 2 does not even have that setting. You can only chose between 12V and 6V if it is MY17 or higher

And for the Gen4:
Depending on the wattage of the installed lights, it will keep a reserve in the battery to run the light for about 2h. This is to prevent you from riding with no lights when the battery is empty.

If you set it to the maximum of 18 Watts, it turns off the assistance at around 10% (depends on your battery setup, 400Wh, 500Wh, 625Wh or dual battery).
If you set it to the minimum of 3 Watts (which is the legal limit from the past, 2.4W + 0.6W) the assistance shuts off at between 2% and 5% depending on your battery setup.
So if you have multiple batteries, you can set it to the lowest and still squeeze out the last bit of each battery in case you ride for hours in the dark.

And regarding the aux 12V on the Gen4, just enable it and connect a USB car plug thing.

On the Gen 2 I would not mess with the light output. It will throw an error if too much current is drawn and shuts off.
Just bring a small rechargable USB powerbank.
