Changing chainring size? Motor damage?

I swapped my 22T ring for a 30T to better suite my riding topography.

A week later after a steep descent I went to pedal and the crank sensor broke, the dealer also said there were multiple stripped teeth. They said this likely happened because of the different chainring and the motor not being tuned for one that size.

So is it possible to retune a motor for different ring sizes? How?

2018 All mountain 6.0 with the PW-X motor.
Bike if 3 weeks old ( ridden 2, and a week so far in the shop)

The 2018 giant full e+1 pro has the pwx motor, it comes standard with 28/38 front sprockets.......

There are double-ringed PW-X Haibikes as well, so I think the dealer is making a guess and looking to not cover it under warranty.

The more I think about it the less sense it makes... There are 2 front rings, 1 is biggger than what I installed, plus all the rear rings means there are many different gearing combinations, and as far as what I can tell the bike has no way of knowing what gear I'm using at any given time..so how exactly can the motor be "tuned" for a specific chainring...? And be damaged by a different one?

yeah it makes no sense really. a larger chain ring shouldn't cause the kindof damage. But what else would help cause that kindof damage? they're probably focusing on the one change. best to bring the drivetrain back to stock before a trip to the dealer.
