The economics shift, and Asia might not be the low cost producer for all things much longer. Most stories in the media don't lump ebikes in with bikes. Generally ebikes are ignored. There are opportunities to make electric vehicles, anyway, something smaller than a Tesla.

I think it's possible as resources become more readily available in the US, like batteries. I think bulkier bikes like cargo bikes could have more viability since shipping costs are so high. We'll see. It could be mostly reserved for the high end, but with enough resources we could make affordable bikes in the US a reality.
